Gateway Firewall Rule preventing access to the Internet

  • Hi all, new to this forum so please be gentle!

I’ve used the search function but not managed to turn anything up that helps. This is my problem: I am running LibreElec 9.0.2 and Kodi v18.2 Leia on a R-pi 3B+. The R-pi is on an IoT subnet and I have Firewall rules in place that are working for this and other devices. BUT, the Gateway needed to be secured as well to prevent it from being pinged and potentially the admin pages accessed from the IoT devices. To prevent this I added a LAN LOCAL rule. Now, if I SSH to the LibreElec CLI I can still ping the Internet (but not the Gateway) and all looks fine. But, from within Kodi, with this LAN LOCAL rule enabled, I cannot access the Internet to download addons etc. When the R-pi is rebooted a message from Kodi is issued: “Remote Communication Server Failed to Start”. I have set “Wait for Network before starting Kodi” (60sec) and the Kodi Firewall is set to “OFF”.

    Help! Thanks in advance.
