pathsubstitution in LibreElec 9.0

  • Hello,

I have been running LibreELEC for a long time now with a central MySQL/MariaDB und profile-Files on a NFS-Share.

The profile-Files have been accessed from the Clients via pathsubstitution like this.

Since upgrading to LibeELEC 9 / Kodi 18 this does not work any more.

LibreELEC won't even launch - it crashes a falls back to Safe-Mode.

After removing the pathsubstitution it launches fine again.

Is anybody using working pathsubstitution for his/her profile in Kodi 18?

    I really liked this feature.

Is there another way to share the profile between multiple Clients?

    Best Regards

    Richard

Path substitution is not actively supported/developed in Kodi 18.

If it still works, fine. If it doesn't work, it's too bad.

From what I know, the problems mostly involved SMB password protected network shares, so NFS should be okay. But.. YMMV.

  • Hi,

I have a central MariaDB database on a Linux Kodi VIrtual Machine. I point it to local NFS mounts for media locations (/storage/nfs/movies/ etc.) and store those in the DB. My LE devices have local NFS mounts the same as the Kodi server. This allows them to play media as they can access the "local" file path.

My Windows laptop however uses path substitution to change the "local" paths to SMB:// locations.

    This all works fine.

Try mounting your NFS paths using mount commands in ~/.config/autostart.sh

And path substituting special to /storage/nfsmount/whatever
