2nd hard disk not recognized by libreelec

Hello to all developers

Thanks for such a good platform for Kodi.

I just installed libreelec first time on a computer. It is having 3 harddisks. One SSD for OS and two for storage. But libreelec cannot recognize the 2nd harddisk. 1st harddisk is ok and mounted and can be accessed. The second one is not shown any where. I tried to format that with Windows machine tried to format with ex4 and also ntfs, but no help. Kindly help me what can I do?

Double-check for any possible hard disk errors, that is usually the reason that Linux will not mount a hard disk. Also verify that it is not in a mode of suspend or hibernate. Put it in a Windows PC and shut it down properly. Then remount it in the LibreELEC machine.

Thanks for the reply, but i did it before, using windows i fetch all data formatted also, but no help. What else can i do please guide.

Do both hard disks have identical/none disk names?

Try getting a SSH connection to your Kodi pc, and run the following commands:

blkid | pastebinit
mount | pastebinit
dmesg | pastebinit

Paste the 3 output URLs here onto the forum.

The ix.io website is up, but apparently the background service is not working properly.

Can you try the following:

Code

blkid > blkid.txt
mount > mount.txt
dmesg > dmesg.txt

And upload files manually to Pastebin.com - #1 paste tool since 2002! ?

Probably... Those files should be in the same folder where you typed in the commands.

Do a ls -al command for a directory listing.

Sorry for my little knowledge about it. But I am typing commands through windows Putty from another computer. Is that the correct way? And if yes than shall i find those files on windows machine or the libreelec one?

Yes, all is still done via the SSH session from your Putty window.

Type the commands mentioned in the previous posts.

Make sure the 3 text files are present:

ls -al *.txt

When you have those txt files, move them to one of the shared folders available to your Windows machine, say the downloads folder

mv /storage/*.txt downloads

Then pick them up on your Windows machine from that downloads folder, and upload them to Pastebin.com - #1 paste tool since 2002! and share the URLs.

Was just trying to remember, when I installed libreelec at that time the names were identical (New Volume) but after formatting I changed the label of the second hard drive, Can this be the reason?

What if I reinstall the system again with different labels/names for both hard drives. Will it help?

Yes, identical volume names can cause trouble. Just like parents having identical twins.
