Adding wifi driver?

  • Hello, I'm a linux noob and a bit useless really to tell you the truth but I recently upgraded my main pc and thought I'd recycle the old hardware in an HTPC.

    However, I soon discovered that in LibreElec I couldn't see any wireless connections at all. I tried OpenElec and that sees and connects wirelessly just fine, so I'm guessing this LibreElec install is missing the necessary wifi drivers. ...is there a way of either using SSH with it connected via ethernet to add the correct driver or to alter the installer somehow?

    At the moment I have Ubuntu on that PC and I looked on there for any potentially relevant information

    id:

    network

    description: Wireless interface

    product: QCA6174 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter

    vendor: Qualcomm Atheros

    driver=ath10k_pci

    driverversion=4.13.0-37-generic

    firmware=WLAN.RM.4.4.1-00051-QCARMSWP-1

    Cheers in advance for any help anyone can give

  • You may need to test a current Milhouse release to have working ath10k drivers as support is not enabled in LE 8.2.x, and even then you might be missing firmware for that QCA device, but that would be easy to see in dmesg output as it will show errors.
