Reset forgotten SSH password for 'pi' user

Does anyone have a suggestion on how I might reset a forgotten password to the 'pi' user (it has been changed from the default)? I have tried adding 'init=/bin/sh' to the end of the boot line in cmdline.txt. I have also tried adding 'systemd.unit=rescue.target' and 'systemd.unit=rescue.target' and 'single'. Regardless, it boots directly into Kodi.

I am using Libreelec v7.9.003. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Facepalm... Of course. I have been bouncing around between pi distros and I totally forgot this. Thank you very much, it worked! Out of academic interest, is there a way to boot into single user mode?
