My AVR i set up to upmix all audio to 5.1.2(top middle), but when the source audio is 5.1 none pathtrough, the number of channel are always set to 7.1. This makes my AVR think that there actually is 7.1 channels and upmix 7.1 instead of 5.1, and results in a very bad upmxi with almost no sound in the top speakers.
This bug has been around for a long time, so i hope someone soon can take the time try to fix this. 
This is a kernel bug - using 3.14 Amlogic kernel you have to use 7.1 to output anything with more than 2 channels. I'm afraid this won't get resolved quickly as developers who fixed other multichannel issues in the past moved to work on Rockchip devices and I am not able to look at this issue as I don't have an AVR nor do I know anything about audio drivers.
You can only hope that when mainline kernel finally arrives, the issue will be gone. 
Drove me nuts. Now I know. Only use 2.0 since ages.
