Do I need a licence key?

  • I had a Raspberry a while ago running RASPBMC where I purchased keys for MPEG and VC-1 decoding.

I've just setup a sweet HTPC with the ASRock J3455B-ITX mothereboard and curious to know if keys need to be purchased for this sort of setup? I'm assuming that because it's advertised to support HEVC then is hardware decoding going to happen automatically, and then does this covere the MPEG2 and VC-1 as codecs as well, or do I still have to purchase keys and if so I've only seen them for sale on Raspberry Pi Store so are they valid for any instance of Kodi irrespective of the underlying hardware or specific to Pi?

  • You don't need to purchase any keys.

The license keys were specific to raspberry pi hardware (not kodi or LibreELEC or anything else).
