By the way: the link in your thread on reporting bugs to the HowTo: Provide Logfiles is broken. The link just before is the correct one.
The file /dev/system does not exist

I found the NAND chip. The 2 boxes with problems have a different chip.
OK: Samsung KLM8G1WEPD-B031
NOT OK: EUDAR EMB1CTTCL1F008
ryv , is there a way to find out the chip without opening up the box?
-
chessplayer A part of eMMC chip name is in your log: emcblk0: emmc:0001 EMB008 7.31 GiB.
-
kszaq , ok, thanks and the other one which works says mmcblk0: emmc:0001 NCard 7.21 GiB Then, how do I find out what chip this actually is? Is there, maybe, some udevadm command like for the Wifi chip?
-
No, only markings on the chip.

Hello firends,
Can you update from 7.0.3 to 8.2 ?Or did you solve the problem ?
Regards
-
adm , sorry, but I do not quite understand the question. On my box, I can run 8.2.1.1 as well as Leia builds from SD card - I just cannot install to NAND.
-
@chessplayer thanks for your answer.
My question is:
if you install 7.0.3 to nand and the you upgrade from 7.0.3 to 8.2.1.1 (still into nand), is the box still booting after the update is applied with both .tar and dtb ?
-
Ok, sorry, I never tried that and cannot say, unfortunately.
-
adm No, upgrading won't work if 8.2 is not detecting eMMC. By won't work I mean that it will upgrade but it won't boot.
-
hello kszaq,
as expected.. do you have a suspect for this issue ?
should the emmc kernel (or user space) driver be ported ?
-
It broke after upgrading to Nougat kernel. I tried reverting Amlogic commits to eMMC driver with no positive effect.

Is any of these boxes that you have issues with running Android 7.1.x? If yes, please try the following:
- delete dtb.img from SD card, i.e. try to run LibreELEC without a device tree
- see if /dev/system is available either by ls -l /dev/system or trying installing to internal (if you're brave enough :P)
- if it works, please attach you device tree - you can extract it to your SD card / USB drive running these commands:
Note that above instruction will not work if your box is running Android 6.0!

I have the same problem, box is from gearbest, Nexbox A95x 2GB/8GB with Android 6.0.1
Tried kszaq 7.0.3, 8.2.1.1, adamg-1.0.8 and Gendo - 9.0-20-10-2017 with no success.
Also tried AlexElec with the same result.

This is almost incredible, but just shows once more that you can never be certain what components to expect: I have a Nexbox A95X 2G/16G also from Gearbest and that is the one box where everything works without any extra fiddling.
-
Has anyone with the issue tried #31?
-
kszaq I did try, without the device tree it does not boot at all. It simply hangs at the Nexbox logo.

JC66 Do you have Android 7.1.x on internal?
