Thanks for this, got the sound working. A few other things now. I want to pull my roms from my synology nas for emulation station. Is there a way to do this? My guess is that I would have to do something like mount each network folder somehow. Also, I'm not getting any scraper information from emulation station
I have all my roms and artwork on a connected hdd so not sure about that but my first guess is that you should mount the folder on your nas which has your roms to storage/emulators/roms
Regarding scraping I don't use the built in scraper.I use sselph scraper with fastscraper and then mass edit with notepad++ where needed.
All you have to do is create an account at screenscraper.fr
Then get the script from here and insert your account user and psword and edit the script to get your artwork...I got mine set to download 3d boxart and screenshots but you can set it up how you like..
Lesson learned make sure you always keep backups of your setup as you save loads of time and work...

Update: The lag was being caused by my 4k tv issue. I enabled a setting in retroarch FGso and it worked for the lag. But, I still am unable to get any sound.
Check my post on this thread #741 to fix audio issue.

I also do not get any sound with retroarch after the rom launches. I've tried using different emulators and different sound drivers from within retroarch with no luck. I also have updated everything with online updater
Are you using Rpi?
Usually if you set audio device to hw:0,1 in retroarch audio settings it should work trough Hdmi.

Before you get ES working you need to get RA working properly as ES uses RA to launch roms.I can't help you much with the controler issue as I only have a couple of wired snes controllers.

Thank you very much! Seems like a simple solution, yet you were the only one to suggest this. Thanks again.
Did it work?

Try to reboot with HDMI disconnected and then connect and set Libreelec to your tv resolution...Probably LE is set to a resolution your monitor doesn t recognize..
-
That was it. Thanks. I still had path to /storage/emulators/roms/nes. But, now I have another problem. Its now launched and recognizes my rom game. When I click to launch it, the screen turns black for a few seconds and then returns to the rom screen.
do you have retroarch setup and working?
-
Followed this and made a folder for each emulator and still getting the same error message.
Did you go to ES addon settings and set path to /storage/emulators/roms/ just in case
-
If I remember well by default roms folder should be in storage/emulators although I never used that myself as I have my roms on hdd. So probably you won't have to set path if they are in default folder..The important thing is that you make a folder for each emulator and name it exactly like the ES gamelists folder
So the roms folders will look like this

I'm having a really hard time getting retroarch and emulation station to work. Emulation station won't launch and keeps giving me an error of "No systems found". I have an xbox one controller for retroarch, but I can't get it to map in retroarch. I don't see an option to bind the controller. I am running version librelec version 9.0.2. How do I generate some log files so that I can download with you guys to get some help?
No systems found normally means ES is not finding your roms folder...you have to set path in ES addon settings
-
new logs
And you still got the same error
Code/storage/.kodi/addons/game.retroarch/game.retroarch-RPi: error while loading shared libraries: libass.so.5: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Just re rename game.retroarchhh and you will get your old retroarch installation back...
-
Also you need to set the roms folder from ES addon settings....it seems ES is not finding your roms.
-
Thank you very much for taking the time to help me with this. I tried everything you suggested and still seem to have the same problem. Also reinstalled ES again while I as at. Here are logs taken just after my last attempt. Also im not sure if it makes a difference but when i renamed game.retroarch to game.retroarchhh it was in a slightly different location (/storage/.kodi/addons/game.retroarchhh)
You don't have to touch (/storage/.kodi/addons/game.retroarch)..that will be overwritten with the update..rename the retroarch userdata folder which is in /storage/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/game.retroarch
-
Thank you very much, I updated libeelec to 9.0.3 and updated retro arch to the lowest version as suggested but everything still acts the same as far as games not loading from emulation station. Should i grab logs again?
rename /addon_data/game.retroarch to addon_data/game.retroarchhh to save your settings and restart LE...Then update retroarch addon.....from addon settings download cores or copy them from game.retroarchhh folder...then open retroarch and update assets etc..it should work
-
Just in case it will help someone, just renaming the kodi.Failed or disabling safe mode alone didn t help for me to go back to the old .kodi installation..
On startup Libreelec couldn't load the profiles.xml and found out it was empty so it was just hanging on the libreelec splash screen..
Just fixed that from a profiles.xml backup I had and voila..

I just need to figure out how much clearance above the fan shim I'll need for the TV HAT and how to bodge the Pimoroni Pibow case to fit it all (the case bolts won't be long enough).
Phil
Get a small fan and fit it on top, outside of the case..
