I read online that NFS does not work too well from within Kodi so I tried with a kernel mount which I put in /storage/.config/autostart.sh

Internal NFS works just fine in Kodi, NFS browsing can have its hiccups at the moment. But overall throughput is not an issue.

Wifi connections for any HTPC is not recommended IMO. The advertised wireless speeds are often not met due to circumstantial hurdles: multiple thick walls, electrical appliances that generate their own force fields, signals from adjacent houses. You name it. Wired connections are always preferred in my book.

Can I provide you with some logs maybe ? (if so, where to find them ? I know how to use SSH).

Please provide a full debug log.

How to post a log (wiki)

    1. Enable debugging in Settings>System Settings>Logging
    2. Restart Kodi
    3. Replicate the problem
    4. Generate a log URL (do not post/upload logs to the forum)

use "Settings > LibreELEC > System > Paste system logs" or run "pastekodi" over SSH, then post the URL link

What we need is a log file that proves that your Kodi setup does not have repositories and add-ons facilitating video piracy. Unfortunately you have installed a couple of repositories that are on Kodi's list of banned add-ons.

As per Kodi rules and thus LibreELEC rules, no support will be given to such setups. Not here, not at the Kodi forum.

So you can either fully clean up your Kodi setup, or find your support elsewhere. The choice is yours.

One hour of waiting is surely too much. The RPi 3 with LibreELEC should boot up normally in under a minute.

I never used Etcher. LE's own USB Creator tool couldn't handle some of my SDcards correctly, I now use Ubuntu's own disk writing tool.

But MacOS should also support the Linux 'dd' command to write disk image files to USB/SDcards if I'm correct. Try that option.

And yes, the SDcard itself can also be stubborn. Also check the SDcard for possible read-only partitions.

I don't understand why it doesn't work in the first place

I have two Raspberry Pi 4B devices here. I have now used either LibreELEC 9.2.0, Raspbian Buster or Ubuntu Mate 18.04.3 on both of them. I don't use wifi, all is ethernet here. I plug in the cables, the RPi4's work. Why it wouldn't work on your RPi4 (besides a hardware technical failure), I don't know. Perhaps your router's DHCP/MAC pool is full?!? What info on the Network page in Kodi is being displayed?

Being aggressively hostile on not sharing further info does not help. It's the simplest of courtesies you can extend.

I have had nothing but issues. I'm not supplying screen shots, I'm not supplying logs. I'm certainly not going to supply you with an explanation as to why I can't connect via Ethernet.

I'm certainly not going to change SSIDs or Passwords when all of this seems to work perfectly under the same OS on My 3B+

This is a problem with this version of LibreELEC for the 4B, and it needs to be fixed. ASAP.

You are in no position to demand anything. Certainly not with such a shitty & totally uncooperative attitude.

I wouldn't be surprised when this is simply a case of PEBKAC. (Sure, google that).

Personally, I'd say you sound like nothing else but a troll.

    "Do not even suggest it"...

Goodbye, and good luck with your RPi4.

The mouse is not Kodi's primary source of input, a keyboard is usually much better and faster for browsing and activating Kodi's GUI.

You can also activate Kodi's debuglog by placing the loglevel tag in the advancedsettings.xml file. See the Kodi wiki for details. Restart LibreELEC after that.

All hardware should pop up in a dmesg listing, which you can get in your SSH session.

LibreELEC is a vanilla Linux setup with only the necessary tools for running Kodi.

It is not a full-blown OS. If that is what you are looking for, LibreELEC is not for you.

Kodi is not a server application, serving DNS is not in its dictionary.

Use Raspbian OS instead to set up a dedicated (UPnP) file server as well as your other network wishes.

but not been able to scan the media to library.

    How do I do this?

but so far the LibreELEC machine isn't viewable as a device in the network portion of File Explorer in Windows

That is correct. Microsoft's SMBv2 no longer does network browsing, because of the SMBv1's atrocious network security holes (search for 'WannaCry').

You will need to go via Kodi's "Add network location", enter full details (yes, the Windows user requires a password), and then all should work.(tm)
