There are plans to enhance the Update section, but nothing specific has materialised so far in that area.
RobB:
Streams from repositories like 'Awesome streams' fall into the not-100%-legal category, as far as I'm concerned.
Therefore, support stops here.
Yes, but as always, creating a full backup of your current setup before any major upgrade is adviced.
Only the 1st aka system partition is set to readonly, so you need to undo that first. Use SSH to log into your LibreELEC box and type:
Edit and save your config.txt using 'nano' and reboot.
On the "Unable to connect" I have no clue as of now. Just try and enable the "Wait for network" option in the LibreELEC Settings addon (and reboot).
I have a feeling where this is going...
A proper bug report includes at least a debug-enabled kodi.log file.
So who knows what else is running on your RPi-box and possibly causing a freeze?
Is it only Kodi that is frozen, or can you still access it via SSH?
What are you using as address: hostname or ip address?
Never mind, IP, i see it now.
Is the WORKGROUP name correct for your network?
You may have to change that in Kodi's network settings.
DSM updates do not change Kodi databases.
Using different Kodi build versions can produce multiple/different Kodi databases.
But you already found that out on the Kodi forum.
The answer to that question is pretty simple: no.
Teamviewer isn't available for arm architecture.
i'm a long time xbmc and openelec user, can anyone describe to me is it the LE file structure the same like in OE, the storage, userdata, and addons, if only i just change system and kernel files, is the storage still usable? thanks
LibreELEC uses the same file structure, so 'crossgrading' to LibreELEC will not change things in that respect.
Will LibreElec be a better product than OpenElec? Or will it be a matter of preference rather than features? Would like to see how you guys grow.
That all depends on what your definition of "better" is. As far as LibreELEC goes, we plan to have more control on the overall quality by doing more testing before a new release comes out, as well as do more releases on a more regular basis. Technically both products will be very similar with only minor differences.
There are no plans for creating such an installer for the SDcard based devices. A would-be-nice feature will remain just that for the time being. It's "first things first", meaning setting up our 'core' business.
The reason for dropping 32-bit support is simple. Only a handful of people are still using 32bit-only hardware, while some 32bit users actually had 64bit hardware running. The extra amount of time and effort for hardware not anymore available to the dev team, in keeping up 32bit support, is simply not worth it anymore.
