May I ask why such a resounding "no"? This is an incredibly popular device.
For starters, we got our hands full already as-is with the current supported hardware. A lot, if not all, of our sparetime goes in the LE project.
Secondly, I don't believe any of the team members has a Fire TV box old or new. So developing and testing is already a problem. I have no idea what sort of hardware is in a Fire TV, and if we would even get support from Amazon. Probably not.
Thirdly, starting support for old(er) hardware is not part of our future plans.

So which version of OpenELEC did work for you? Giving minimal information in an opening topic will not invite others to come forward.
Nope, it should simply work, and use your normal internet connection.
Do you use the 'Wait for network' option in the LibreELEC Settings Add-on? It seems to be a necessary thing on intel machines.
If that doesn't work, the simplest/quickest way is to install a fresh setup of LibreELEC.
(Having backups of a working setup is always a plus)
Some skins can disrupt the general skin settings. Since you haven't mentioned that (or if) you use a skin other than the default, I'm only guessing here.
You could start by renaming/deleting the current guisettings.xml file, and restart the Kodi box.
The Wetek Hub has recently changed its wifi chip, and hopefully it will be an improvement.

If you think this is a bug, then feel free to open a ticket at trac.kodi.tv , as this seems a generic Kodi issue. Attach screenshots and other information that might be helpful to your bug ticket.
Pi-hole is not available on Kodi setups, better use a seperate box for that, such as a Raspberry Pi.
Transmission is possible via the Thoradia addon(s).
You can also have a look at this recommendation page for choosing 'the best' kodi hardware, although your budget is pretty tight.

The single web browser LibreELEC currently offers is Chromium in the x86-64 Generic build. I don't know which other browsers you have used.

That will never happen. LibreELEC runs on its own Linux OS, and has nothing to do with an Android system that happens to be near by.
A dmesg listing always helps to see what is inside your machine.
Alternatively, lspci -vv and lsusb -vv is also welcome.
Make a screenshot of those icons (press PrtScn and look in the screenshot folder), and point them out with MS-Paint, or your favorite paint proggie.
But most of the time they indicate:
- Not watched
- Watched
- Stopped (at a certain moment)
Start with the log file(s) you can provide. A kodi.log file perhaps?
