Some manufacturers can be pretty "enthusiastic" about the performance of their products.
I would stick to the more renowned manufacturers and choose SD cards that have proven their worthiness via tests in IT magazines.
In layman's terms... Make a copy of the Estuary skin, and work on that. Should you get into trouble, there is always the original default skin. 
Start with providing a kodi.log with debugging enabled from the start. Our crystal ball has overheated during the weekend.
I'm sorry for any medical condition that people might have, but as you may well know, sometimes medicaments can have side effects. And if those side effects are hurtful in some way, they need to be dealt with.

Something is not working 100%
PC hardware, especially the older PCs, can have hiccups in the suspend department. Also Nvidia drivers were causing a problem with suspend not too long ago.
However... Since you offered no real details on your PC's inner hardware, we can only continue guessing.
If you are talking about Kodi 18 on LibreELEC 9.x stable, then it will be a couple of months at least, rather than weeks. We do have to look at Kodi's own releases of course.
The first "official" LibreELEC 9 Alpha has yet to be released (yes, things have somewhat slowed down in the release department), in spite of the tireless efforts of Milhouse and his LibreELEC 'bleeding edge' nightly builds. Builds that you can yourself also use of course.
You can try creating the xorg.conf file with contents in the /storage/.config folder.
Do you have network connection right from the start?
Or does "Wait for network" need to be enabled?

Or simply start fresh without all that crap. It's quicker that way too.
If there is hardware that is pretty stable, then it's the Raspberry Pi. SD card corruption is not impossible, but should be far less than from in the early days.
Provide a debug enabled kodi.log file (via pastebin.com or other text upload site), and perhaps we see something odd.

Why is Milhouse new release build 18 constantly coming out every day?
Those releases are called 'nightly builds', and are used for testing the latest implementations of features and/or bug removals. In other words, the "bleeding edge" of what is possible with LibreELEC. They are test builds, so functionality can break. Don't expect things to work 100% at the first attempt of a new computer program. That only happens in movies. 
If you don't like to have possibly big problems in software, stay away from the nightly builds and keep 8.2.5 running.
Please try to avoid Berry Boot. It doesn't always play nice with LibreELEC.
