Besides the subtitle problem, 9.2 still has the stutter and judder with aac audio. AC3, Dolby and stereo are fine!
Only solution that works is to switch to 2 channels and or let Kodi convert aac to ac3.
Pi3 works still fine with Channels set to 5.1 and decodes AAC to PCM 5.1 which shows as "Multichannel in" on the AVR...

report this on Kodi oficial fórum?
Pi4 subtitles video juddering
Greetings! -
Damn, that's bad news. I'll install 9.2 in the evening nevertheless...
I know subtitles aren't first priority or maybe it's a complicated problem, but I hope for the hearing-impaired that this will be fixed with the next release. Or better: For the people who live with hearing-impaired a la "don't you dare turning the ST off, you ignorant egocentric" (which would be me).... -
Oh, so it's a Kodi problem, platform independent....can't find any threads in different Kodi forums. We should start reporting, maybe they haven't got a clue what's going on?

I checked subtitles - still massive stuttering every 40-50 seconds, which is completely gone after disabling subs.
I still see tearing with the skin buttons (title, tags, genre, etc...), not graphics or pictures. That happens not all the time but sometimes when you scroll left or right and the buttons become "active" and resize. But that's no problem for me.

That was fast. Thanks very much for x502!
- Video judder and stutter seems nearly gone. I'm not completely sure, still have to test with subtitles, but the audio/passthrough related dropouts are reduced to a very few, which I'm not sure could have other reasons. In any case: video is much smoother with HW and multichannel audio.
- CPU temperature in average is now about 5°C lower (with or without HW-acceleration). How is this possible, but maybe I'm wrong and I changed something...
- Can't detect the GUI-tearing in 1080 at the moment - has improved very much.
Thanks very much and Greetings! -
That's quite an impressive list of TV channels. So impressive that it can't possibly be a legal list.
Why? My list with Astra1, Astra 2 and Nilesat alone is twice the size, without IPTV, Radio channels and other gadgets.
Whatever...just wondering... -
Did you check "sync playback to display" (no passthrough)?
Did you check different cables and hdmi ports on your Samsung and exactly the identical connection as your working Bluray? -
FYI:
Playing mp4 with .264 and Dolby without mmal-HW acceleration box checked, my Pi4 heats up to 75° Celsius, mostly around 70° with cheap passive heat sink (and open case without cover!), idle as Iridium said around 60° max....
and CPU load under these circumstances is really very low.

Thanks. That's this MMAL thing...
It does the trick for now!
Without mmal- HW decoding, video is much smoother and better regarding the sound, passthrough and subtitles problem.
Thank you chitalov and Kramer!

How do I disable HW decoding on Raspberry? Thanks!

Thanks Mario. Cleaning the library doesn't do it.
But Problem No 2 is solved anyways. Don't know how, but I found a password and sources xml file witch still contained the path with a samba share. I recreated the folder and deleted it again and now it's gone for good. So it was clearly my fault.
Still working on the "recently" case...comparing dates and similarities of the files which won't show in list...
Thanks

1. Since I switched my Pi3 to Pi4 it seems I have a little problem with recently added TV-shows. A few episodes don't show up in "recently added".
- Scraper works fine - every episode is in the library and the database as it should be, only missing on the front page and in "added" list.
- It only applies to shows, not movies.
- Log says nothing.
- Skin Estuary on recent 9.1.501.
- Library maintenance, rescan, etc.. has no effect, but sometimes the new files get added to the list, if I refresh the single episode instead of the whole folder.
- Has nothing to do with watched or unwatched.
Ideas anybody? Database problem (start from scratch) or only a problem with the recently added list?
2. There seems to be an old path in my library, which has been deleted month ago.
I can't see the path on the GUI/videos (since it doesn't exist anymore and was deleted), but it shows up, if I use addon "missing movie scanner".
The scanner brings up the old deleted folder "xyz", so there still has to be a path to it somewhere in the library.
Is there a add-on to manually work with the database in LE or do I have to edit the sql on my windows machine?
Thanks for ideas! -
Can confirm the subtitle related dropouts too...once enabled there are heavy, really heavy stutters about every 20-30 seconds with all kind of subtitles, closed, containered or external.
The 60Hz solution doesn't seem to work for me. Are you talking about the GUI or the whitelist resolutions?
-
Exactly the same problem here....all multichannel formats.
Audio settings to "fixed" doesn't solve the problem for me, but it seems much better. Still testing subtitles, pass-through and stereo.
All files play perfectly on 3 B with 9.1.501.
BTW, every sampling rate above 48KHz ends in total video stutter disaster here ( apart from all other video and audio settings). -
BTW, FYI, I found a thread regarding the problem and will try this later.
Last post, in "Includes_Home.xml":
Increase number of 'Recently Added' items shown on the HOME SCREEN?
(link goes to "forum.kodi.tv")
Greetings! -
Damn, too bad, that I didn't know. I thought the setting affects the home screen horizontal scroll.
I appreciate your quick response, thanks a lot for your help! Maybe there's another skin out there...I will be looking
Thanks again
