I've been using vpeter 3.14 LibreELEC kernel builds on my Cubox-i 4x4 because they're the only ones that work on it, but, I have a really annoying issue that has never been fixed. In all the releases I've tried along these years, video playback can always randomly freeze with audio continuing to play. I've got my Cubox-i 4x4 on October 2015.

Anyone knows anything about this issue?

It's the sole thing that doesn't work on my Cubox-i, I really wish it fixed. I also have LibreELEC on a RPi3 and it never presents such issue.

I'm also open to try alternative systems besides LibreELEC, in case I can avoid this and still have video playback that's safe to play until the end without problems.

Isn't the main function of the dim to dim what is currently shown? Just set to 100% and it will be black?

Regarding kernel versions: I'm not sure anymore. For me both versions work the same. Even with kernel 4.8 ;)

Yes, but it's not dimming what's currently shown, it dims to what was previously played. So if I play some porn and finish it :), then I let the screen in the main menu, after 3 minutes it dims to the porn!

    I'll give 4.8 a try.

Sorry about that - I build image without CEC in 3.14 kernel. I build it again and reuploaded to same location.

Thanks vpeter. I see people here complaining of blackscreen on Cubox-i using newer kernel. I always used the images available from your repository based on 3.14 but recently I wondered if there would be no problem using the images from the official LibreELEC channels. I have never tried them but since they run on newer kernel I thought "why not?".

Do you know whether it's best to stay on 3.14? Is there a problem trying the official i.MX6 LibreELEC images on Cubox-i 4x4? Did you try them?

By the way, Dim screen protection still presents the same issue with showing snapshot of last video played when dimming.
