Probably because all video decoding & acceleration has to be done by the CPU, and not the video graphics card.

Gallium 0.4 is some form of ATI/AMD graphics if I'm correct. Support for those have always been troublesome. I would stick to Mint + Kodi.

Actually the load was always high even when idle, and video playback adds almost nothing to it.

Found out this is actually Intel GMA500, Gallium is some unified Mesa 3D interface.

    Intel GMA 500 - ArchWiki

says that any system with gma500_gfx module included should work. And that hardware decoding is supported.

    Hello,

trying to install Librelec Generic on Acer Aspire One mini-laptop which did run Mint 17.3 without issues. It has Atom N2600 CPU and "Gallium 0.4" builtin GPU.

Startup loops with "GPU not supported" message, both with 7.0.3 and 7.95.1

I know this model used to have problems some 3 years back but thought they had been resolved. Kodi ran without problem in the Mint platform but for some reason the CPU load was always very high and overall the system was quite sluggish.

    Advice please.
