Does LibreElec have a way to do this easily? I could try to watch some tv shows / movies and check the temps afterwards but not sure how feasible it would be
Yes for the CPU temperature - leave the movie playing in the background and go into Settings - System Information - Hardware.
I tried setting update channel to 8.0 but no updates were showing, will have another go today.
I used a Window 10 machine to flash the image to the CM3 eMMC.
I followed the instructions here: Flashing the Compute Module eMMC - Raspberry Pi Documentation
Had to reboot Windows 10 to disable driver signing.
Then used Win32DiskImager to write the .img file to the eMMC drive.
It was a bit of a faff to get it done but got there in the end.
I don't see any updates either, but I think this is because of the way this image is built (but I could be wrong).
I also followed those instructions to flash the CM3 eMMC with no problems, albeit from Linux rather than Windows. I used a Compute Module IO board, but I understand that if you power the Slice from the usual DC jack before connecting it to your computer via USB, then the Slice itself allows you to update the eMMC in the same way. But I haven't actually tried it that way - I'll try the next update that way.
Anyone using the on board infrared receiver?I have just ordered a CM3 Lite to test with booting direct from the HDD.

Same here - Parcel Force permitting, I will be testing with a shiny new CM3 tomorrow as well! At this rate CM3 users will be into double figures by the end of the week!
