There is no 10-bit support in LE 8.2.1 for RPi as this requires Kodi 18.
10-bit H264 and H265 is working well in LE 9 test builds.
Do these work with Slice hardware (CM3 installed)? And which build is recommended?

When will LibreELEC (Krypton) v8.0.0 RELEASE be released for the Slice Media Player as I am eagerly waiting for it becuase when i went to the available versions there were no new available versions to choose from so please tell me when the Slice will be able to update to 8.0.0Thank You
It's been out for almost a week now. The link is in the first post
can you monitor the CPU temp and the HDD temp as well. It will give an indication as to how hot the other side of the main PCB is getting as well as the HDD
Roger
Does LibreElec have a way to do this easily? I could try to watch some tv shows / movies and check the temps afterwards but not sure how feasible it would be
Finally got my CM3 working today. Didn't work with my own 2-in-1 hybrid Windows machine but my with my work laptop i was finally able to get rpiboot to flash the emmc and showup in Windows.
Now running LibreElec 7.95.1 beta
Will see if I have problems with the heat as I don't have any kind of heatsink there right now.
If you follow instructions on the Raspberry Pi Foundation website to mount the CM3's eMMC device to Windows our USB-SD creator app can be used to write the "Slice (CM3)" image directly to the eMMC volume. I've no idea how eMMC mounting is done via Mac or Linux, but assuming there is a process the native USB-SD creator apps for Mac/Linux should work fine too. Then just boot the Slice and it will format/prep things as required - it's exactly the same installer routine as an RPi3 for those that have done it. From chat with Gordon some other funky things like booting Slice (CM3) directly from the internal HDD should be possible, as it's connected via USB so Slice (CM3) has the same "can boot from USB" capabilities as RPi3, but until I have some time to fiddle around and experiment there are no written instructions with pretty screenshots.
ah, that clears things up. thanks
I don't see any updates either, but I think this is because of the way this image is built (but I could be wrong).
I also followed those instructions to flash the CM3 eMMC with no problems, albeit from Linux rather than Windows. I used a Compute Module IO board, but I understand that if you power the Slice from the usual DC jack before connecting it to your computer via USB, then the Slice itself allows you to update the eMMC in the same way. But I haven't actually tried it that way - I'll try the next update that way.
Might also be that the CM3 version is not in release state so the updater doesn't find it. It found the newest 95.1 beta for the original CM1 slice yesterday when I did the upgrade through the GUI.
Seems I need to start reading as my CM3 should arrive this week. Only have OSX laptop at home and no IO board but as you said it should be able to flash by using the Slice connected to power and USB.
So first I would need to flash the emmc and after that is done, I can flash the LibreElec to it?
Installed my CM3 last night and after a bit of faffing managed to get the image installed on the eMMC.All is working great.
One quick question.... The image I installed was from back in October (downloaded from Index of /slice/) and I see on this thread lots of talk about installing later updates. I had a quick play last night but couldn;t work out how to get Kodi/LibreElec to update via the GUI (it was late). What do I need to do to get all of the latest updates....
Thanks for all the work on this.
Go to the librelec settings and to the update part and select the 8.0 channel and you should see the new update
How did you btw flash the image to the CM3 emmc?
You can use the standard keymap editing method for Kodi, there are addons for Kodi to help with this but I haven't used it... But the default keys have now been changed and therefore up/down just give you volume up / down... But I've got used to the multi press left / right to do various sized skips...
Gordon
OK, well its not so big problem that I would bother actually.
I updated my slice to the 7.90.009 build from libreelec. Has anyone noticed that the transfer speeds are really really slow over EThernet/Wifi?For some reason after updating to the libreElec build (chewitt first and now the 009 one) the transfer speed are way slow as normally I can transfer about 2megs/secs and currently getting speeds about 130kilobytes/s. After a while the connection just breaks
Installed the newest build yesterday and loving it so thanks.
Is there a way to map the slice remote buttons as with new Jodi the up and down arrows control volume and before it was used to do longer skips forward/ backward
