That "snow" looks like a bad HDMI cable. If for whatever reason the new build uses a higher bandwidth video setting (like RGB or higher chroma) than the previous.

My particular box I'm working with right now (Sunvell T95m, S905X) can boot from both USB slots and also from the SD card slot.
So what kszaq has said may not be 100% accurate, and depends on the box in question.

10bit H.264 is not supported by the VPU, so it's decoded in software.

Great! The fix was submitted, so the DTB of future builds should work without needing modification.

It's identical to my T95m and T95N remotes.

So now you have the scan codes, all you have to do is follow the instructions on creating your own keymap.

I just picked up an Abox A1 Max S905W, and tried both the gxl_p281_2g.dtb and gxl_p281_2g_tanixtx3.dtb files, but still can't get the LCD to display anything other than 'boot'. Wifi, video, and sound work fine so I know I'm on the right track, but it's just weird that the LCD panel doesn't work. Do I need a custom dtb file for this configuration and LCD panel? If so, how would I go about creating one? Many thanks in advance!
I sent you a PM, please check it out.
Did the DTB I provided last night fix the problem? -

Sorry, but I don't have an answer to that, maybe one of the devs can answer.

You can add this line to the autostart.sh file in the .config folder (create the file if it doesn't exist).
Then this command will be applied at boot.

Look in the device-tree folder after you burn the SD card.
