I have a dual boot system on my PC with Linux Mint and Windows. I know just enough about Linux to be dangerous but never had any Linux file system issues in 10 years so I'll ditch the NTFS and redo with ext4. Seems the path of least resistance might work for me. NTFS seems like replacing a broken Ford part with cheap one from China and expecting equal performance.

I don't think speed will be an issue just compatability with my LE system. 8 tb of our DVDs, music, photos etc. I usually copy Files to the working system SSD for viewing so unless ext4 is slower than cold molassas it should work fine. The only reason to even deal with Windows was file repair so sounds like a worthwhile project and test for future updates. Soon as the wife gets her stuff all packed and we move into our new home I'll give ext4 a whirl. Thanks to all that responded!

I've come to the conclusion changing my external storage format to a Linux flavor may save some irritating file repairs. Which might work best with LE? The storage drives are 4TB conventional SATA hard drives Deskstar I think. Suggestions appreciated.

I've not been able to find a rock solid solution as of yet. As I understand it the issue showed up with change of drivers in the core Kodi software last update. I had another drive fail to mount well after the last update. Chkdsk did find an error and I lost an entire folder. I ran the chkdsk program and rebuilt the lost folder but clueless as to cause. Sometimes sh** just happens. I have faith the devs will solve this. A donation to the cause is the best fix you and I can offer.

No need for a new thread. I found to set default using a mouse one needs to drag the radio slider down (right hand side) to enable the default audio setting to be enabled. I was clicking on the selection and nothing happened. Hey I'm old. ;)

Does this happen only with 24p videos? Kodi has this "feature" - the audio of any 23.97/24p source is a bit delayed by default. To work around it this has to be added to advancedsettings.xml:

I'm not sure about the source just a 720p mkv file where i first noticed the audio lag. How do I find if the video is 24p source? Thanks for the fix BTW.

Thanks Da. Will play around with settings as suggested and figure it out. I did manage to Set as default the audio offset so issue solved. Just curious why it was necessary to change? Some settings not preserved during update maybe?

This is more of an observation and not a real issue for me but I've noticed my audio seems to need to push ahead roughly .25 ms to match stored videos. Also for some reason the Set as default for all selection doesn't seem to work any more. Maybe I missed something and I'm just curious. :/

A suggestion that a new driver incorporated in the Kodi build might be the culprit behind the issues. Since the last update of LE I have noticed it takes much longer to mount my external drives once powered up. I estimate a good 15 seconds or more which is a lifetime in processing terms. As to your issues you may need to run chkdsk in Win to repair your drive(s). Lots of info on chkdsk usage with a quick online search. I know this a pain but once you repair your drives LE works great. The LE team will figure out the problem eventually so patience is golden here and a donation to the cause always helps. ;)

One additional item may or may not be relevant is that when I booted up Win10 and powered up the two drives I saw a flash message about hard drive collision which I understand to mean the drives were being accessed at the same time and should never happen. This also occurred last update.

As I mentioned in post #7 the storage drives were not powered at time of LE update. They were powered on the next day and failed to mount at that time. I have two separate systems on this unit. Each system occupies a 1TB SSD with LE11.01 the default boot drive Win10 on the other. The Win10 is always connected via sata. The 4TB storage drives are exact copies and connected to the system via USB3 interface. Hope that helps.

The last time I wrote code was in the eighties so tech has passed me by since then. I can repair the drives and hopefully offer my experience here in hopes of a better solution. This issue occurred on my X86 HTPC a i3 Gigabyte system with (2) internal 1 TB SSDs one dedicated to LE (default boot) and the 2nd with Win10 both unaffected. A StarTec dual drive ext bay with a USB3 interface and (2) 4TB 7200rpm drives for mass storage. Both are GPT formatted NTFS systems. The StarTec drives were not powered when I did the 11.0 or 11.01 updates. Hope this sheds a bit of light of the issue.

Well just a small issue. My 2 ext 4TB drives are missing. I get a message when I power them down that both were successfully removed. One drive showed offline using Win disk manager. I set it back to online and tried again but LE 11.01 does not seem to recognize them. Something in the update process is likely the cause as this happened with the 11.0 upgrade. Here's my log.
