Highres Audio = Raspberry PI + hifiberry running LibreelecAudio hardware of Amlogic isn´t HiFi
You'r right that Amlogic isn't HiFi, it's a sound chip that can deliver digital sound unchanged (hdmi-passthrough) to your HiFi - AVR, so why put a cheep hifiberry in the middle to mess up a perfect sound, when your AVR has a much better DAC? 
I understand but in the latest "c" build too much fps skips compared to the first "c".
hmm... No fps problems on my device, only problem is sometimes nois in back channels playing flac, aac etc.. 
Can you share with me a sample to test because my samples with multichannel flac works great.

No need, The problem was fixed with the new 1c ver.
Just moved up to 8.0.1c (from 8.0.1b) - on a S905X. (Zenoplige X96 Amlogic S905X Quad Core 1G/8G ) - and it does not seem to be honoring the audio pass-through correct. It appears to be transcoding into PCM streams. Trying multiple settings and videos, and everything is linking up with the amp as PCM.Here's the logs ... some of the dmesg and kodi.log with debugging from audio on.
Let me know what else to gather or try.

I played 5.1 FLACs and AACs with the early 8.0.1c release. The only problem I found is that the FLACs play as 2.0, not 5.1 even though Kodi recognize them as 5.1 files.
Interestingly, my AVR shows that the input signal is 192kHz. I thought the S905X was limited to 96kHz.
If I set my audio config to 7.1 fixed 192khz i can even play films with DTS-HD MA 7.1 as LPCM 7.1 192Khz
Same here, with the first 8.0.1c everything was fine, Multi CH was good but I've tried the latest "c" and now I have too many skips, back to the previous "c" build.
Maybe a little misunderstanding. I think the problem is not transferring PCM data over HDMI, but converting none Passthrough formats to PCM. like flac, acc, etc.. 
Hmm... I installed the "c" update a few hours ago and multichannel PCM seems to be working.
I only tested the samples I found at the Kodi samples page (LPCM 5.1 & 7.1)
If you have channel settings set to 2.0, you get AC3 (stereo) passthrough, if you set channels to 5.1 or 7.1 then nada.
I'm rebuilding 8.0.1c now to fix multichannel PCM audio.

When I use "Adjust display refresh rate" Kodi also sets my tv resolution to match the source, But If I set Kodi Resolution to 720p, and using HW acceleration, then things don't work right.
If the source playing is 1080 then TV is set to 1080 etc.. But i looks like the HW thinks it's 720 and the picture is also rescaled, and I can only see 1/4 of the picture.
If i disable HW acceleration, it works fine.

When the device is decompressing the audio, it is limited to 96khz (as kszaq suggests) due to restrictions in the onboard DAC. When you passthrough the DTS-MA track, the device does not touch the original bitstream and your amplifier decodes the audio at the full 192khz.

I've tried a bunch of 7.1 files, and if they play ok, then by skipping chapters a couple of times the problem starts. So my guess is that i will happen with any PCM/ACC 7.1. If I disable passthrough it also happens with DTS-HD MA 7.1

Dose anyone else have problems with multi channel PCM???
Disabling passthrough or playing multi channel AAC/FLAC i get distortion and/or random noise. Especially with 7.1.
Skipping back/forth sometimes fixes the problem, but it will also cause the problem.
