escalade Hey man, keep up the great work. Have a new one for you I think (checked the thread, it was mentioned about the Dual Shock problem, which I encountered in another build of RA, and just happened to save a RA config file from it which has the DS3 inputs, but no dice when I edited the Retroarch.cfg file on the LibreELEC Retroplayer files). Just running Retroarch XMB/Lakka-style frontend it seems. Haven't tried Emulationstation (that's next). Log file below in link
Hardware: Acer Revo Base RN-66, Intel i3-5005U, Intel HD 5500 Graphics, 8 GB DDR3 RAM, 250 GB Samsung SSD.
Link: LibreELEC Retroplayer Relevant Logs - Pastebin.com
If you need the input and hardware logs, I have those too, let me know and I'll get them to you.

escalade Thanks for the feedback. I have a few ideas for potential solutions I want to try out. I'll do that and report back the results, if you don't mind. I'll upload logs as well.

escalade While on my lunch break, ran home and did this real quick: LibreELEC Retroplayer Relevant Logs - Pastebin.com.
Hope this is the right one (varlog.txt). Let me know if this works for you.

escalade I don't blame you, good Sir/Madam. I was a technical support/firmware engineer in a past life, so I know what kind of dumbassery you've put up with. It does make one predisposed to tearing people a new asshole when they do seemingly dumbass $#!+. As a technical writer as well, I can help you out as to why people have a hard time following the directions. It also enrages you to blind spots that you may not see because of your simmering rage due to people stupidity. It's why I copped to having a dumbass moment.
I'll reenact the incident in question and get the varlog file for you. Give me some time. I've got to run off to work. Admittedly, it's also kind of hard to provide support in a forum (trust me, I've tried, was a forum admin for a private company providing support, was a nightmare).

escalade I'll wholeheartedly cop to having a dumbass moment when I have them, and I'm pretty sure this is one of them. But when I went back to find the relevant log files in the Samba share you referred to, the logs you want aren't there in the Samba share....am I missing something here? Just to recap what you put on the FIRST page, you wanted the following logs:
/var/log/emulationstation.log
/var/log/retroarch.log
/var/log/x64.log
/var/log/fs-uae.log
/var/log/uae4arm.log
/var/log/dolphin.log
/var/log/residualvm.log
Correct? But when I go to my Samba shares on my LibreELEC machine via another Win10 PC, this is what I see when I open the log file:
KODI
KODI_OTHER
System
Hardware
Network
varlog
input
filesystem
Journal-cur
Journal-prev
Addons
Just to make sure I wasn't a complete dumbass, I logged into SSH via Putty and checked the /var/log directory on there, and only found the following in the directory:
log.nmbd
log.smbd
Xorg.0.log
Information about the machine itself: Alienware Steam Machine, Intel i3-4170T, 3.2 GHz, 8 GB DDR3L RAM, 240 GB Samsung SSD, NVidia GTX 860M 2 GB DDR4 VRAM.
I'm really sorry if I seem to be wasting your time, but I am confused here. I'd like to be able to help so....

I really wonder how it's possible to miss the first two lines in the first post of this thread. You will be ignored until you have read it.
escalade Because I had a freakout about what was going on and was trying to solve it myself before posting and was just frustrated. My apologies. I'll get the logs and post them.

escalade Sorry to bug, but this Retroarch crashing when exiting thing and hanging up LibreELEC is a pain in the butt. Any ideas on how to resolve it? Need anything from me on how to do so?
-
Any reason why the emulator locks up the rest of the system when I hit "Quit Retroarch" every single time? I have to do a hard reboot or SSH reboot in order to get it back up and running. Slightly annoying, but otherwise, kickass little unit! Also doesn't respond to any button presses from my controller or USB remote control, either. Strange.
If you need a log, let me know, I can provide that too.

Just wanted to say thank you for this build of LibreELEC/Retroarch/EmulationStation. I'm using it on an Alienware Steam Machine i3 edition I picked up for less than $200 from Gamestop. Figured it would make a good HTPC and dedicated Kodi unit, but with the Retroarch/XMB/Lakka-style front-end as opposed to the EmulationStation front-end (which I had a problem with in the past with acknowledging PSX ISOs in file folders).
-
Yes there is, edit /storage/.config/emulator-frontend.conf.Yup, this worked like a charm. Beautiful. Thank you!
-
Just curious, is there a way to disable emulationstation as a frontend and have it just launch retroarch from the kodi menu?

PSX roms work fine here. Supported file formats by the mednafen psx core is cue|toc|m3u|ccd|exe|pbp.
That's odd, it loads in the foreground for me. What hardware are you using?
EDIT: Found this, so the focus bug looks like it's fixed upstream.
As for Dolphin hanging on quit, I get that too. It's a regression, it didn't do that until recently I think. When I have time I'll investigate to see if it's fixed in a later commit or perhaps downgrade.
EDIT: Looks like that's fixed as well
Will push out an updated build soon.
That's strange, do they have to be out of folder or in-folder for them to work? I currently have them in folder right now along with the cover image. I'm going to try just the eBoot (.pbp) files by themselves and see if it works.

JUst wanted to say thank you for this. You provided a LibreELEC/Retro Gaming Solution I wanted to have so badly for a modded Chromebox i had lying around.
Had a question though regarding an issue I had: I loaded PSP eBOOT files into the PSX folder and ES couldn't detect them. Any possibility of an update for that so I can play PSX games?
