Panfrost has memleaks, graphical glitches, and no proper kernel driver or 32-bit userspace support so we are still a long (long) way from having something generally usable. It's still rather awesome to see mainline (everything) on an S912 board though

mSD cards are cheap so use a card, backup occasionally, and just buy another one *if* it fails at some future point.

NOOBS is reliable and doesn't cause problems. You cannot install drivers in LE though; the system boots from read-only files so drivers must be baked in the pre-compiled OS image. What drivers are you trying to install?

And people wonder why we refuse to put that script in official images. QED.

Not that useful. We are already writing a stateless V4L2 decoder for RK along with the corresponding V4L2 stateless hwaccel interface for FFMpeg which is also used by current Allwinner test images. Randy is someone we collaborate with regularly tho, so we'll have a chat

Kodi provides two ways to watch local video. The Movies/TV library nodes on the home screen and the non-library "Video" node. Kodi will permanently remember the state of anything in library views (stored in the library database). It will also temporarily cache state when using the Video node, but once you reboot that temporary state information is gone. If your install is on a portable USB stick .. I'd guess you're not working with a library.

There are staff with 8th Gen NUC's, but more for video development than general testing. As a broad rule it often takes a few kernel iterations before support for the latest generation of NUC hardware settles down.

None of our images include entware so you're not running LE and it's hard to comment on the state of whatever image you have. The locale add-on needs a reboot to effect the locale change.

I'm not sure there is. Kodi remembers preferences for media in the library, so the issue with Netflix is that everything is an online stream and nothing is in the library. To workaround that the Netflix add-on would need to cache/remember the preferences and then instruct/configure Kodi appropriately when playback starts. Maybe something for the add-on support thread in Kodi forums.

If you update within the settings add-on it pulls the .tar file, and this works fine.

LE 7.x/8.x images for the C2 are aarch64 so the settings add-on is looking for LibreELEC-Odroid_C2.aarch64-9.0.tar which doesn't exist. Our release team need to clone LibreELEC-Odroid_C2.arm-9.0.tar to the aarch64 name and rebuild the JSON file (without RK file content else the JSON isn't parsed correctly) then the 9.0 update should be visible.

I looked at the performance/monitoring stats on the releases server and there's a visible load spike whenever we push a beta release out but overall loads are normal and even the release spikes aren't particularly excessive. The only I/O spike we see is a weekly snapshot of the server, but that's over and done within a minute. I'd guess it was a random transient network issue somewhere or an ISP caching issue .. so "nothing to see, move along please" applies I think
