I (think) i have this issue, I'm expierincing a microstutter when subtitles are enabled. Very annoying once you see it, it cannot be unseen
Does anybody have any other suggestions? Is someone even working on this issue, is it recognised as a bug? I don't see anybody else with a U9 complaining about this, i assume they are all running LE and not Android (i don't want to run Android due to refresh rate and color space issues). Maybe it's just my setup/configuration or most other people don't use subtitles (i'm from Belgium, it's common to use subs here).
On my x92 box I have this "subtitle micro stutter" on some movies running LE8.9.0.4. To avoid it I turn off Hardware Acceleration for those videos. There is enough juice in S912 to handle software decoding...
Yes, you can backup the whole Android internals, ie all partitions and data on them.
For that you need a small SD card with TWRP (V.3.1.1) recovery image on it and a USB disk/flash with about 5Gb free space attached to the box.
Then you "force boot" (via reset switch) to the TWRP recovery where you have the option to backup (and recover/reflash when needed) complete Android system.
The updated driver\addon should fix that.
The one (FD628 Display.zip) you posted above?
This will make this driver start automatically after a reboot.
Then remove the add-on from Kodi and install the one in this zip file manually.
Then you can configure the display type to make it work correctly. You'll need Display Type = 2 and Common Anode = checked.
Will this stop "subtitle frame stutter"?
Not eager to try, just to get icons, since my display shows 24hour clock without the need for fd628 addon.
New issue arising
When I run the service addon, it causes incredible framedrops in video. I’m talking about 4K HDR.
Shutting the service down solves the problem.
It also causes heavy "subtitle frame stutter" on 1080p video files with external subtitles...
Once the "fd628" addon is activated time and icons are dissplayed. Deactivating/uninstalling this addon will remove additional icons, but time will continue to be displayed after reboot on my X92 box.
Hi,
I have box X96 S905X 2GB/16GB, working with kszaqs 8.2.3.1.
Should I go to 8.90.5?
Is there any significant improvement?
I think this version has issues. Better try 8.90.4 if you feel brave to try test versions and see for yourself any inprovements.
I'm getting a lot of reboots with 8.90.5. Seems to happen most when stopping playback but not exclusively.
Same here on both of my boxes, playing local video from USB disk . It probably has to do with latest Kodi nightlies that have the same problem in Android. Se HERE for more info.
I am back on 8.90.4 wich works OK even on my X96-Mini_S905W box; no green or other lines or artifacts...
As I understand from the OP, I think this only works for adamg's 8.90.4 release...
Yes, gxm_q200_3g_x92.dtb is the .img that I am now using, don't need 1G ethernet,
and with it everything works fine.
Tnx a lot for your work!
Currently known boxes that work:
T95m, T95Z, X92, Vorke Z6, Tanix TX3 (mini), ABOX A1 Max.
If you have a model that is not in the list and you'd like to have it supported, I will need the following:
My model X92 (q201 3/32G) is on the list, and have FD628 chip, but...
Running 8.90.4, and installed "fd628 service" Kodi add-on and nothing shows on my display.
What do you need me to send you to get it to work?
Does using differnet dtb images matter? My box runs OK with these images:
gxm_q200_3g.dtb, gxm_q201_3g.dtb and gxm_q200_3g_x92.dtb.
Im using now gxm_q201_3g.dtb -> no display.
Edit:
Well, I am sorry for bothering you. Solved my problem with changing my dtb image to
gxm_q200_3g_x92.dtb and now my display works same like in Android
I "solved" similar problem on another box (X92) by installing "script.advanced_power_menu-1.0.1"
From that addon if I choose "Reboot to LibreElec" it normally reboots to LibreElec on SD card. Choosing "Reboot to Android" from the addon, at first nothing happens, but if I then choose the option "Reboot to LibreElec" - then my box reboots to Android
Maybe it works for you...
@adamg Power Menu Option?
I use LibreElec.8.90.4 on my X92-S912 box.
Can you add to Power Menu the option "Reboot from internal" similar to LibreElec.8.2.2.3?
For now to reboot to Android I use "script.advanced_power_menu-1.0.1" addon.
From that addon if I choose "Reboot to LibreElec" it normally reboots to LibreElec on SD card.
Choosing "Reboot to Android" from the addon, at first nothing happens,
but if I then choose the option "Reboot to LibreElec" - then my box reboots to Android...
Is there another simpler way to reboot to Android?
Tnx for all your work, best regards!
Sholander, does wi-fi also work on Q201 device tree?
You can use gxm_q200_3g_x92.dtb with 8.90.4 to make the display work
Thanks, but I use ethernet on my box, did not try (yet) wi-fi...
Hmm, my X92_3G_q201 board has Gigabit ethernet and both, "gxm_q200_3g" and "gxm_q201_3g" work OK...
Have it for 2 months and I realy like this box
For more info take a look at this video, and at 5:37 see how it ranks compared with other similar boxes.
Display MoreSorry to rehash here, but coming from H96 Pro Plus - with power boot issue - and want to take another stab at another device that others have tried that meet the following.
*S912
*Gigabit LAN
*At least 2GB/16GB.
*Able to power on from LE (not via internal)
*Able to play Netflix at least 720p (on v18)
*If front LCD, it works (optional, but preferred)
*Sub $100 price.
If anyone has tried similar and has a view, please chime in.
Thinking of KM8 Pro, M8S Pro, T95Z Plus, A95X A2, BB2...
Thank you.
Hi,
I own X92 (q201, S912, 3G/32G, 2.4/5GHz Wlan, 1Gbit Lan, about 80$) and it works perfectly.
LibreElec on SD with Kodi 17.6 and Android 7.1.2 on intern, with latest Kodi 18 nightlies - all run without any problem
It is a rather big box with very good cooling so no problem there...
Also, most modern HDDs come with a utility in which sleep can be turned on/off, and set time when to enter sleep mode...
