"root" just the boot partition
tar file is not needed.
so you have a S905X not a S905

So, with the img.gz temp disabled? you use rufus select dd from the drop down, burn this to the sd card
then copy the correct device tree. which is?
to the root of the sd card, & rename it to dtb.img overwriting the one already there?
Which image exactly?
which device tree exactly?
Thanks Gendo, I have this working on H96 Pro S912 (not plus)
Used 2GB device tree, & had to use remote conf from the Krypton build
My Mecool M8S Pro+ does not show a shutdown menu in LE. Hitting the power button shuts the box down with no menu choices. Is there a way to enable the shutdown menu? I see it on all the other boxes I have.
Would it be under power options, depending on the skin?
Is Conman an addon? if so, just uninstall it
Display MoreHello,
today I tried to update my MXQ pro 4k from version 8.0.2b (I think) to version 8.1.9.
My first try with SD-card failed. I used LibreELEC-S905.arm-8.2-8.1.9.img.gz and the dtb-file for MXQ pro 4k.
The MXQ freezes while displaying the boxes start-logo.
Then I tried to update via SSH with the same image.
Now the box freezes also at the start logo. Nor libreelec neither Kodi is loaded.
I think the LibreELEC-S905.arm-8.2-8.1.9.img.gz file is not working on the MXQ pro 4k.
Where can I find an older Version to repair my box?
[8.1.9] LibreELEC 8.2 for S905/S905X
then go to the parent folder
Is there ever any benefit of flashing newer manufacturer supplied firmwares for TV boxes, then coming back to LE? Do they fix any issues that LE can't? I notice the KI Pro gets the occasional update supplied over @ Mecool KI PRO Hybrid Android TV Box with Amlogic S905D SoC, DVB-T2 & DVB-S2 Tuners Sells for $80. The most recent is date September 5th and I think my box came with one dated some time in Aprril or May.
If you install libreelec to sd or usb, you can compare the two
Not an answer, but I'm curious. Someone else asked the same question
Partition manager for installation media
If you want Kodi, running from windows as a windows program, then you need to get kodi from it's download page
The above link, suggests you run Libreelec from a usb stick, & not a separate partition on the same hard drive as windows.
You don't need to do a complete flash, you can just add the correct device tree to the update folder
I would zero fill the sd card with Low Level Format and zero-filling before writing the image, with rufus, selecting dd from the drop down menu.
Just one more test before you try remove sd card.
Are you able to install add-ons transfer over files? Mine boots ok but once booted can't install anything.
Is the spring latch broke?
I just let it boot up, luckily for me, it now doesn't recognise the sd & boots from usb
Have you tried using coreftp lite to copy files?
The one in the video, is not the same one, I have H96 PRO TV Box Amlogic S912 Android 6, 2/16gb or 3/16GB, Dual WiFi, Gig Lan, BT4 - FreakTab.com
I tried running a knife all the way around the edge, but couldn't get it to open. I'm not sure, if the card is above below or in the slot.
I might take it to work to X-ray it, might give me a clue.
usb port, right hand side rear. Haven't tried others.
good news, it boots from sd card, added gxm_q200_2g device tree
bad news, my sd card is now stuck in the holder, the socket has been dodgy from when I got it.
Luckily, it still boots from the usb
Any good guides on how to dismantle the H96 pro?
Well at least that rules out a box issue.
Are you running from internal or SD?
If your using sd what type of card you using?
Cheers
I'm running from a 32GB San disk Ultra fit. Apart from at the beginning, it has been running ok, I update as soon as a new one comes out.
My H96 has the Q6330 chip. I used rufus to create the image.
Hi bubblegum
Is your H96 pro box working fine with latest update?
I have same box as yours but I'm getting the read only errors since 8.1.7 updates.
Thanks
My box works fine. Well, apart from freezing sometimes
I was forced to give a try to LE because of problems with DTS sound in Android images on my Minix X8-H.
I'm very happy that LE works well and I can enjoy DTS 5.1 if available in my video archive. It seems to me that video is smoother too than on any Android image I used. Thanks to all developers here !
My questions is, how to keep all my LE settings after upgrade to future release of LE. I expect that I'll have to flash a new LE image to SD card and all my configuration data will be lost.
Maybe it is enough to copy out the ~/.kodi/userdata/ folder before flashing a new image to SD card and copy it back after flashing + reboot.
Thanks for help.
You just copy the upgrade file, tar, or gz to the update folder in kodi. Reboot, & that is that.
from windows explorer \\ipaddress of your box update folder is there
you won't lose your settings
just check to see if there is a newer device tree, if so also copy that to the update folder
