The tool I posted can create several useful tools on a usb stick, gparted & clonezilla are just two.
personally, I have not had any luck using the Libreelec backup.
I find cloning works for me, although if the disks are different, you do need to resize them using gparted.

On first boot, it runs through a short wizard, you can change it there, or using the Libreelec configuration addon, it might be there.

I used to clone my NUC usb stick to another usb, using a bootable usb stick with clonezilla, this works on my windows pc,

Thanks. Would be nice to describe it in the wiki as well.
I agree. It does make a change, that somebody actually reads the wiki before posting a question.

You need to read, install remote from scratch
-
I made it, copied remote.conf file from Leia's amremote folder to Kryton's storage/.config and works great.
Sorry, for the previous, incorrect instructions.
-
Ok, on the Krypton version, is there a remote.conf in /storage/config?
If there is, copy this to /storage/config on the Leia version

On initial startup, it will go through, what you name your device default Libreelec, then, enable smb & ssh, then network settings,
If not, go to addons, Libreelec configuration, then look under connections & select the wifi, or lan

1. try booting using reset/recovery switch
2. I'd try adding the device tree again
3. try with another usb stick, (it could be the stick)

Thanks - well aware of the forum, I'm using Libreelec, the issue started with Librelec update hence my post here
Ill turn off LIRC and try
Ill give NFS a go, but i am using SMBv2 and drives do not sleep - i did see this issue back in days of my openelec install, connecting to windows server
Definitely not hibernation as drives are set not to do so
In your original post, you said OE 8.2

Did you read the how to install? [HOWTO + FAQ] Install community builds on S905/S905X/S912 device
from that
. Before you install - choose a device tree
Important: You cannot use device tree from Android firmware as in 99% cases it won't work.
Please look at release thread for device trees folder link.

S905: First look for device tree with your box name in it. In case there is no such image, download generic one.
- example: for a box with 2GB of RAM and 100Mbit Ethernet, you should download gxbb_p200_2G_100M.dtb
- example: for boxes with Gigabit Ethernet download gxbb_p200_1Gbit.dtb
- for boxes with Realtek WiFi download device tree with RealtekWiFi in name
- S905X: You can leave a tree that is already present on SD card (fresh install only) or choose one according to your RAM amount. If internal memory of your box is not visible when trying to install to internal memory, try a device tree with _nand suffix.
- S912: You need to choose device tree according to your Ethernet port speed and RAM amount
