    Depends on your 4k Material...

If the 4k is 4:2:0 (colorspace) downscaling to HD could look better because the colorspace stays at 4:2:0 so there is only one conversion stage (resolution).

HD mostly is 4:2:2 (avc) so if the source is 4k 4.2.0 you have two conversion stages here (resolution and colorspace)

The best quality you get is input= output as soon as you use upscaling or downscaling you get less quality out of it. In most cases.

It might look more crispy to your eyes but, in the end it is pretty much to what YOU prefer.

Don't know why they should delete a Bug report which is easy to proof......

But, this happens the more in the last years on kodi... more features, more bugs or something which was working is broken now....

I am also not a friend of adding features while the basics are buggy...

Maybe they think it's not that critical....

Thank you for your suggestion. Interesting idea, but that would be my last resort. I prefer software solution if possible.
How does it work? Does system recognize splitter or individual displays connected to it? How about display properties (e.g. my projector is 3d capable and plasma isn't)? Does switching resolutions and/or refresh rate work?

    Hello!

    Yes, it's working perfect!
I do have one 3D cappable TV and the other is FHD only. The main reason for choosing this was so I have HDMI audio on both. Had a Nvidia (gt730) card before, now Intel onboard and the splitter is working on both including switching resolution and rfrate.
Since 1-1,5 years I don't use rf switching anymore cuz most of my content is the same and I can live with the quality LE renders other material. Also the lancos3 upscaler is realy good. So I don't have the mode switching seconds (from the TV) before the video starts.

    Hello!

Do you mean the Libreelec splash screen or the kodi splash?

Afaik the Libreelec screen maybe could be changed somehow (at least this was possible in OpenElec) if I remember well....
The kodi splash there is no way else than make your own build.

    Hello Tepp!

This is exactly what I ment.
If you have energysaving activated there is another option under reboot... So energysaving is completly dissabled on your system.

I have energysaving activated so I do have another option there. But, if I set it the system keeps always on. I never configured a system with energysaving dissabled completly.

The hold audio device and send noise options sometimes create curious issues (in my case). Depends on your Hardware. In my case it stoped the system from suspending. My intention was to keep that out of the game.

What you could try is to activate energy saving and set the new option in power menu if your systems stays your TV is okay then maybe it is a bug in some way.

    Worth a try...

    Best regards

Have you tried to just hit a button on your HTPC remote or keyboard and wait a second?

If you have your HTPC always on and have set in system>energysaving the first option Suspend Display if system is idle then you have to push a button to bring your screen output back.

    Hello!

Set your desired resolution in system>display>goto audio exit. Then select reboot from the kodi menu. Now it should get stored.

Sometimes the setting is not getting saved if you go back to the main menu from system>display...
This happens for me since Kodi 15. Sounds crazy but it still happens.
