It worked. I made the mistake of typing the whole thing not just the eDP-1 bit.
Both are running now.

I have 2 hand me down laptops that I want to turn into media players.
The one has 2GB ram and about 300GB storage, the other has 4GB ram and about 1000GB storage.
Libreelec installed wonderfully via the USB loader and works as expected (not that I am very familiar with Kodi).
But neither manages to successfully connect via hdmi. I got an SSH to connect to the other partition.
I read a comment that I should run the getedid create command, but it then says there are more than one device and I should disable via Kodi settings. I assume this is the setting blank other screens in Kodi. No effect. I tried chatgpt and gemini to help but I have just managed to frustrate myself and my entire family.
Any advice?
The laptop definitely sees the TVs since while booting it mirrors the display shortly.
