You want that setting on. If what you see is unnaturally smooth ("soap opera effect") then that is a setting on your TV.

    See here.

Apologies for slow reply. I followed your link and checked the Samsung settings, but unfortunately, that setting is already "Off" on the TV. There are no motion smoothing or advanced options switched on.

When played directly from a USB drive, the movies have no added smoothing. Only when the display rate refresh setting in Kodi is switched on does it appear.

    Hi all,

Any movie I play ends up stuttering and losing audio and video synchronisation after about 1 hour of playback. This is consistent across multiple files and video types. The problem stops when I fully stop the player and restart the file (I don't have to reboot Kodi).

I'm using a RP4 and the files are on an external SSD. Kodi and the Pi are fully updated to the latest versions.

    Logfile Hastebin

The issue starts on line 1823, time: 10:40:24.718: debug <general>: CVideoReferenceClock: detected 1 vblanks, missed 2, refreshrate might have changed

Then proceeds to lose audio sync a few seconds later: 10:44:08.999 T:1027 warning <general>: ActiveAE - large audio sync error: -89477.712196

In my settings, I've switched Refresh to "Off" - keeping it on with my TV makes the movies look too smooth and unnatural, and not like "movies".

I've seen a few threads about this, but no firm answers, I think. Any advice would be appreciated.
