You did it 🎉👏! Tested the new build w/several 3D MVC MKV's and now PQ w/"Use limited color range (16-235)" at its default (off) = RPi5's! Except...

... my Beelink w/Ryzen 7 5800H has about 2.25 times the performance. And, I can feel the power, snappiness difference... in fact, it's the fastest Kodi box I have now. We wouldn't have AMD 3D w/o popcornmix's RPi5/4 3D, but I may be using AMD more. Definitely keeping and using RPi5 as well, and maybe move it to a secondary media room w/a 3D UST projector. Of course, for those who don't already have an AMD-based PC, given hardware prices these days (bought mine for ~$350 in 2023, and now it's ~$590 😱), RPi5 would be more wallet-friendly and more than good enough.

BTW, my BT issue is solved... needed to disable BT under LE settings > services, then enable it back.

Yes, this did make a difference w/my Zidoo as well, but RPi5 and AMD still have sharper 3D, and more pop than Zidoo. I'd say RPi5 and AMD would be A++, Zidoo using Priority RGB444 8BIT for non-4K an A, and Amlogic-based h/w-decoding boxes a B+.

I added your score in the spreadsheets, thanks

Thank you for the work being done here.

So, what's the best mini PC to get if money really isn't a problem? I don't care if it's overkill; I just want the best hardware to run those builds.

anything past AMD Ryzen 3500U will meet requirements of running it. getting a more powerful system won't improve image, just give you a faster experience on kodi, but there comes a point of diminishing returns. I think look out gor a gmktek k12 in aliexpress sales on 11.11. most likely barebones and just add your own ram and ssd. some great deals will come up.
go on a deal site like slickdeals (usa) hotukdeals (uk).

should be able to get a beast of a system for $350. more power than you know what to do with.

    not surprised it's smoother

    CPU: Intel Core i9-13900K

    • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 5090

damn you threw the whole kitchen at this. your hardware wouldn't even notice the GPU work for this. it's good to see Kodi is not restricted anymore. this will attract allot more to x86 and maybe more development as a result and plus 1 to what Vertox wrote. CroqueMr work has put him in legendary status.

starting Saturday in UK you can get the GMKtek 3500U for £87.95 ($117.17)

even mentions Kodi, I'm still holding out for 11.11, might get full system for $140. like to see how much K12 goes for to

Pc vs Oppo, Dune HD, CEAM S922x. FEL and 12 bit.

In case anyone is interested in taking a look.

Dolby vision FEL and 12 bit output

I've been waiting for this, you excelled my expectations! what an amazing analysis, I didn't spend to long trying to understand the meaning, I trust you know what you are doing. love that you can now create custom made test suit to deep dive into the different implementations. It seems CroqueMr confidence was well placed. everything he mentioned about the accuracy is vindicated. I can't believe how much more accurate the PC is, the gold standard of the AM6B+ only came 3rd! wow. PC wipes the floor with them in terms of displaying 12 bit DV FEL. well done for this amazing work, also to CroqueMr, you really have revolutionised this hobby of many people.

-One thing I would like to know is, AM6B+ has official Dolby vision FEL natively supported in hardware, then how was it of so much compared to PC.
    - are you planning on comparing the VS10 vs CroqueMr conversations.

wow I'm even more excited now! well done CroqueMr . Thanks DMDreview , looking forward to your next video!

will be making some reddit posts once CroqueMr releasing next release with bug fixes and reference the video to show the king of DV FEL is PC spearheaded by CroqueMr

A conversation is going on in kodi forum about tone mapping in feature request and I'd love to know if this could be what Kodi is lacking in regards to a solution for over saturated OSD in HDR video playback

"I also would love to see mpv-libplacebo incorporated into the Kodi v22 video pipeline. Libplacebo provides very, very good dynamic HDR-HDR and HDR-SDR tonemapping that is vastly superior to the static tonemapping currently provided by Kodi's videoplayer. In my back and forth testing with madVR, mpv-libplacebo is +90% percent to where madVR currently is with nowhere near the hardware requirements demanded by madVR. Using mpv-libplacebo as the playback backbone of Kodi would be a gamechanger imho and put Kodi's video processing on par with JRiver Media Center."

and tiben20 is pointing towards his work? sorry for having to constantly ask but I'd love to use LibreELEC and this OSD is holding it back from it's full potential. thankyou

IIRC the DevCon discussion was about work done by OSMC to implement broader support for DV using 'open' capabiltiies and thus avoid the need for closed-source dovi blobs and DV license fees. That work proves it can be done but isn't easily transferred to other hardware platforms as it's all Amlogic vendor kernel/uboot specific.

thanks, so basically that deals with video playback and not the OSD while the video is being played?
the information you shared is cool though! supporting DV on any AMlogic device would be a bonus.
if that went mainstream, it might lead DOLBY to just open source DV lol

I thought I'll share some news regarding this matter

This past DevCon 2025 from Tirana in Albania had a good percentage of interest in this objective, and from some of the fist bumps, it's clear there is some resolve. Video minutes where recorded, but I'm uncertain if these are available to the general public but there is some consensus so stay tuned.
