Libreelec 12.0.2 released on the 22nd of January now includes a PWM gpio fan overlay. The Raspberry Tools addon is no longer required.

To get it working with a Pi4 and a 52pi Ice Tower fan with red, black and blue wires I added...

dtoverlay=gpio-fan,gpiopin=14,temp=55000

...To config.txt.

I updated to 12.0.2 and PWM fan control works, I added

dtoverlay=gpio-fan,gpiopin=14,temp=55000

To the bottom of config.txt.

This pwm-gpio-fan overlay has recently been merged with Raspberry Pi OS, can it be added to, or used with Libreelec?

I would like to know the reasons why the RPi.GPIO library was dropped from the Raspberry Pi Tools add-on. In my opinion, this is a mistake. I'll explain. I am the author of the OLEDproc plugin. Unfortunately after applying virtual.rpi-tools the update notification for Raspberry Pi Tools appears again, can this be fixed?
