As the author of the title of that video, I figure I should clarify that SSDs are awesome (my hope is more devices have M.2 onboard!), but microSD is still quite suitable for some use cases... and this is one of them. Unless you're hosting media locally, or need to enable logging for long periods of time—or running other stuff on the same box—-microSD is going to use a little less power (like 0.1W instead of 1W idle), be cheaper, and not take up more space (meaning some little cases might not work).
Just make sure you get a good microSD card and use a good power supply-any good name brand card should be fine (I use SanDisk Extreme mostly, but I have a couple with Kingston Industrial cards where I care more about them staying on for years).

One thing I like to do when setting up something like a media device is put some content on it over the network (there are many ways to do it, this is the way I like to test something new out).
I have my LibreELEC Pi set up, and I want to put some content on it. The setup wizard helpfully enabled Samba by default... but now I'm not sure how to connect to it. It looks like the Wiki used to have a couple pages on the topic:
- https://libreelec.wiki/how_to/share_additional_folders
I found those two links from this thread a few years back.
It seems like those pages—and indeed, any mentions of the built-in Samba shares—are gone. It looks like the file /storage/.config/samba.conf.sample contains a list of the default shares (including the main ones I want to access: Videos, Music, and TV Shows), but it would be nice for beginners if the Wiki had a little guide for accessing Samba (and maybe 'sharing additional folders' too).
For my own use, on my Mac, I went to Finder and selected Go > Connect to Server, then clicked 'Browse' and browsed to LIBREELEC. Inside there, I found all the shared folders. (I could also just paste in smb://LIBREELEC/Videos in the Connect to Server dialog).
From there, I was able to copy videos into the Videos folder.
To view the videos on my Pi, I went down to the Videos section in the main menu, and they were there in the Videos folder. Yay!
