It's possible that LE is trying to send a better audio stream, compared to the Apple TV stream. As a result, the HDMI data rate is eventually too high for the AVR. 4K@60Hz is already a lot of data.

If it's an HDMI handshake issue, it should be visible in the log.

Awesome, which of the log files? For kicks and giggles I also tossed an RPI4 on with libreelec. 4K60 HDR worked fine with the same cables/port etc. Oddly after it stopped the video it hung without output and even a reboot wouldn’t bring back the Kodi screen (rebooted via ssh). The libreelec boot screen showed and then straight into black screen.

I have done so. It lets me play at 4K24 but not 4k60. I went ahead and put an 8K HD Fury Dr on order. We will see if it can solve the handshake issues.

Just used an RPI 4 I had sitting around, it will do 4K30 with the same cables connected etc. I’ll have to try and edit the boot config to do 4K60.

Everything is screaming an HDMI handshake issue so I have a HD Fury Dr 8K on the way, will see if that solves it. I also tried my beelink GT7 Pro but it gets hung at the boot screen so I’m guessing there isn’t kernel support for this processor yet.

Then your AVR or the HDMI cable is the problem. Most 4K material (not the demo) doesn't provide 60Hz at 4K, so you can ignore this for use-case scenarios.

The HDMI cable should be conform to HDMI 2.0 or 2.1 to play 4K.

HDMI cable - I used the cables to display 4K60 when direct plugging so I don't believe it's the cable. I believe it's a handshake issue between AVR and mini PC as the AVR does work with the apple tv and firetv cube going into it at 4K60 HDR.

GUI is GUI, it has nothing to do with playing video,

    try whitelisting:

Recommendation: Configure Kodi to allow the following modes, if available:

    • 3840x2160 @ 60/59.94/50/30/29.97/25/24/23.976
    • 1920x1080 @ 60/59.94/50/24/23.976

I assume by configure you mean whitelist. I will do that. Still, when the GUI is configured it should also be running at 4K60 if I have 4K60 selected right? Right now it's doing 4K24.

Machine: Beelink EQ12 Pro with I3 N305 processor

    AVR: Anthem MRX 1140

    Projector: Sony XW-5000

I select via the UI 4K60hz, yet when I hit the information button on my AVR (Anthem MRx1140) It shows 4K24 even though the GUI shows 4K60. My Apple TV does 4K60 fine (and it shows correctly in AVR). I try a demo on this KODI box and some play 4k24, others don't play at all, specifically the 4K60 HDR ones. My projector also supports 4K60. I bypassed the AVR and it played fine with 4k60 but of course I need sound and HDMI switching.
