As Linux does not support HDR10+ or Dolby Vision
What does this statement mean exactly, please? Will it play but just without HDR10+?
I have an old TV. The only thing I'm trying to achieve is that I'm able to play local files. Currently, most of the local files (e.g. 10-bit HEVC) show artefacts on display.
I can see the newest nVidia Shield is from 2019. Is there something similar that is newer?

Hi,
I want to upgrade my Intel J1900 fanless mini-PC for something that is able to play HDR10+ / Dolby Vision / 10-bit HEVC in Full HD and is future proof to play in 4K. I'm playing local files (NAS with Samba or flash disk) as well as Netflix.
Looking through the forum most of the hardware recommendations are for RaspberryPi 5. Instead, I would prefer a device that doesn't use an SD card for storage - I have a lot of bad experience with RPi SD card corruption due to short power outages.
Is there something similar to my fanless Intel J1900 mini-PC with full HDMI but newer?
I was even thinking of buying just an Android TV (e.g. Xiaomi TV A 50, Xiaomi TV A2) - would that work?
Thank you!

Anything else I can try?
Thank you! -
Which display ports do you have?
Do you use the same port for monitor and TV?
Do you use a display adapter?
Did you had a look at BIOS / EFI settings?
Hi Da Flex,
- There are only 2 display ports: VGA and HDMI
- Yes, I'm using the same HDMI for both
- No, it is a HDMI to HDMI cable
- Yes, I looked into BIOS - I haven't found anything related to this - could you advise what to change, please?
Thank you!

Hi,
- HW - PC: Intel J1900
- HW - TV: Philips 48PFT5500/12
- OS: LibreELEC 11.0.1 (Legacy Generic PC) - also tried with LibreELEC 10.0.4
I have a small fanless computer with micro motherboard with Intel J1900. I've been using this with standard 1920x1080 px monitor for ages without any issue. I now got an older Philips TV with Android. The Android is old without any further option to upgrade so I want to use the TV only as a display.
There is NO SIGNAL when plugging the PC into TV using HDMI cable. Not even during mini-PC startup.
Already done troubleshooting:
1. When I connect my laptop to the TV using the same HDMI cable + same HDMI port on TV it works - without even touching anything on TV.
2. xrandr info
Code
Display MoreKodi:~ # xrandr Screen 0: minimum 8 x 8, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 32767 x 32767 DP1 disconnected primary (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) DP2 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) HDMI1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) HDMI2 connected 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 640mm x 360mm 1920x1080 60.00*+ 50.00 59.94 30.00 25.00 24.00 29.97 23.98 1920x1080i 60.00 50.00 59.94 1280x1024 60.02 1360x768 59.80 1280x720 60.00 50.00 59.94 1024x768 60.00 800x600 60.32 720x576 50.00 720x576i 50.00 720x480 60.00 59.94 720x480i 60.00 59.94 640x480 60.00 59.94 VGA1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) VIRTUAL1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis)
3. xrandr set display device
4. I set up EDID: https://wiki.libreelec.tv/configuration/edid
Code
Display MoreKodi:~ # head /sys/class/drm/*/status ==> /sys/class/drm/card0-DP-1/status <== disconnected ==> /sys/class/drm/card0-DP-2/status <== disconnected ==> /sys/class/drm/card0-HDMI-A-1/status <== disconnected ==> /sys/class/drm/card0-HDMI-A-2/status <== connected ==> /sys/class/drm/card0-VGA-1/status <== disconnected
Nothing works
Could you please advise what else I could try?
Thank you!
