Hello, thanks for this great OS !

I have a question regarding my setup.

I have a RPI3b+ connected with ethernet to my router (TP link Archer AX55 V1) and a Windows 10 computer connected to the router with WiFi.

As of now, all of my media are stored on a NTFS hard drive on the windows computer which I access with samba. However it forces me to let the computer running when I'm just watching movies so not so great.

The modem comes with an USB 3.0 port and support NTFS and exFAT so I was thinking maybe I can plug my NTFS hard drive into it for easy access with the pi and windows.

However I read in other treads that it may be better to plug the drive directly to the pi (it has an external power supply) while formatting it in ext4 but will I be able to transfer files from Windows to the hard drive this way ? I do not play my media on my computer anymore since I have my pi setup, so the primary use of windows in this case is just to write files on the HDD.

The advantage of connecting the HDD to the modem is that I don't have to power up the pi to write on it and it seems to be easy access with windows (either exfat or NTFS) but I read that it can cause some problems with samba but I'm not sure what ^^

So my question is what would be the best setup in my case ?

    Thanks in advance :)
