once there released will the dtb also work with kszaq s krypton builds? Not an issue if not I just use both on the box one from nand and the other from sd
It will boot but your IR remote won't work.
Hello,
Any update about the official release?
How is going?
Kind regards.
You can now build a bootable image using the official LE source, there are no official builds as of yet.
I don't think you will see an official build until LE9 final releases start appearing which are some months away yet.
2gb 16gb amlogic 905w
Please wait for 8.90.4
When burning .img.gz to an SDCard there will be a subfolder called device_trees, inside you will find gxl_p281_2g_tx3mini.dtb rename this to dtb.img and place in the ROOT directory and it will solve your issue.
The content cannot be displayed because it is no longer available. Thanks for clarifying as a lot of Hoo Ha previously with this source code business made me cautious.
There was no hoo ha, I had removed the dtbs because all of the ones I uploaded where for the next version and not ready for use yet due to future changes, all will become clear in time.
So VDF dont work?
It does but only for tx3mini with 8.2 builds with the correct DTB
Kszaq has already stated that 8.2 development has ended so don't expect fixes for current issues within 8.2
So mine has arrived, seems to run ok but runs very hot, much hotter than my Nexbox A95X which is a shame as it's bigger and the S905W runs slower than the S905X, I may investigate further. The wifi is much better than the nexbox though.
I've tried to upgrade from the included 8.90.2 to 8.90.3 by dropping it in the upgrade folder but it failed due to the upgrade being 32bit and the current version being 64bit.
Also it has a really annoying Advanced Power Menu addon which I can't figure out how to disable with loads of useless options in it, the default kodi power menu already has a reboot to android option, so the advanced one with 15 different options isn't needed, and the default is a none working suspend anyway.
Overall I'm happy with it for the price, but would like to see the community builds working instead.
you are using Tanix version of LibreELEC that's why you can not upgrade and it is not 8.90.2
Probably this is the "cursed" dtb/dts file that no one wants to be shown: device-trees-amlogic/gxl_p281_1g_tx3mini.dts at master · kszaq/device-trees-amlogic · GitHub (this is a github link from kszaq repo)
However I don't know how to "compile" or "transform" in dtb... someone could do it or explain us how to do this?
I tried with this command: dtc -I dts -O dtb -o gxl_p281_1g_tx3mini.dtb gxl_p281_1g_tx3mini.dts but it doesn't work... It doesn't like the "include" part.Thank you.
it's not ready to be used yet, there is a reason it hasn't been made public, use p212 2g for now
Working now, I formated the sd card under linux and used etcher, this worked. No, I won't install to internal, read most china boxes have unreliable internal memory.
Nice build, all smooth so far. I just have to figure out why Amazon Prime Video playback is stuttering in 1080p. Hardware and inet connection are capable of 1080p streams, maybe it's some widevine restriction, idk.
Its been covered many times before, no h/w decoding for widevine DRM based content.
I understand that it is impossible to support all those cheap chinese devices. But SBCs are in my opinion not a compensation for those chinese boxes because they are hardware wise not ready-to-use mediaplayers. In my opinion it would be great if the list of supported mediaplayers like WeTek/Minix could carefully be increased.
How are they not ready-to-use mediaplayers? They work far better imo, CEC power on/off actually works, they can be overclocked, all drivers are open sourced and everything works.
Ok, I tried 2 different sd cards. My last idea is to zero out the card in ubuntu and dd the image to it, if that even works.
This is a very old issue you are experiencing and is usually the result of user error. Do you have LE installed to internal?
kszaq I thik this message should be included in the first post. You are saying that your release is ending but not saying who's gona save us.
Your misinterpreting my message.
The consensus afaik is for LE to only support single board computers RPi/Odroid/LePotato/RK and possibly L1 widevine boxes WeTek/Minix
however saying that
LE will support a Generic S905 image, just not in an official supported capacity, it will be a use it or leave it image... if it works great, if it doesn't then don't complain, supporting the mountain of cheap chinese devices is extremely troublesome, there is no support from the manufacturers, source code isn't available.
I personally think it's irresponsible of us to continue supporting the chinese devices, we should be encouraging the uptake of SBC's as these manufacturers actually work with the LE-Team. Yes the devices cost a little more (~10 euros) but at least it is guaranteed to work then.
You can use kszaq 8.2 dtb for now, I removed dtb for now because there is a big change for the next version and I don't want anyone using them prematurely and reporting issues
Display MoreI have been following the thread since a long time.
I have recently acquired a s912 box, namely edal T95Z Plus which seems to be exact same hardware as Sunvell T95Z.
I have revised the thread to figure out the right dtb to use to enable the LCD to no avail.
I am currently using 8.90.3 version with gxm_q200_2g.dtb and except from LCD everything seems to be functional.
Can someone point me in the right direction?
I have read the post with script to check LCD segments, but need to have it enabled first. Have already installed FD628 service.
Thank you.
I'm not sure if one has been created for that box, msg The Coolest for help as he is the new resident expert on all things VFD
Ok, but to take away the install to internal cause of some noobs is not a solution for me. In a car you also dont limit the speed to 50 cause of some so called racers in prevent of n Accident. If i or someone take the risk of install to internal, is my decision and if there is a problem, i must live with that or find a solution. And if something goes wrong, you can always boot from SD.
Sorry but this decision to forbid it, tastes for me like the politic of Apple, Google or M$ on their devices. And who wants Android as base for Mediacenter really?!😉
Who said it is being taken away? nobody is forbidding anything all that was said is that it will not be available in official builds and there is a number of technical issues for that.
1. the partition layout will be different in 9.0 so users will NOT be able to upgrade/downgrade from 8.2 <> 9.0 if installed to internal
2. there is issues surrounding boxes with nand and not being able to support them
3. the number of problems it causes
Official builds will be focused on stability.
Please read rather than flapping.
Thinking about it more it could be made to make auto update work but I don't think there is any desire from anybody to work with this box any further due to the Wifi issue, it's caused us enough headache already.
Thanks kszaq. Sadly now no support. In the future maybe? Or not at all.
There is nothing stopping you booting from usb/sd card, installing to internal is a niche feature only for community builds and will not be available in official builds when they arrive.
My main concern is they'll either update the LibreElec version infrequently or never will, so a way to keep the current dual boot up to date with community builds would be great.
The TX3 Max uses RTL8723BS for it's wifi from what I can tell on freaktab but Ethernet is ok for my use anyway.
I don't think that will be possible I'm afraid but you can already dual boot Android with the latest version of LE.
