Update:

I was able to boot LibreElec a couple of times but not in a standard way....

During testing I mistakenly left TWO copies in my Minix, one in the MMC adapter and one in a USB adapter. After attaching power the uSD adapter started flashing and LibreElec was booted after a while. Hoorah?

Current situation:

Until now I was able to boot LibreElec a couple of times, but I do not always have a screen on my monitor and it is not always booting. I always need to have a copy in both the MMC slot and in the USB-adapter.

When booted the display goes blank (some kind of background color to the whole screen) after a while. This can take one minute or 10 minutes or longer, but it happens sooner or later. After that I need to cut the power and reboot.

I will do further testing but if someone can explain why I need to boot this way, please let me know.

Initial boot from SD card will take a while, be patient, you should see the red light in the optical audio port as an initial sign of correct boot.

I tried following to boot the image:

First I set the internal jumper to auto power on, thanks for that tip.

Using Linux:

1. Burn image with Disk Image Writer

2. Burn image using USB Image Writer (Make Bootable Disk)

Using Windows 10:

3. Burn image using Balena Etcher

In ALL cases I did "Disconnect power - Insert uSD card in MMC slot using a uSD adapter - Connect power".

The only result I saw was a very short flash of the optical LED when connecting the power supply. I waited for 30 minutes, but no results.

havhav Windowsk32 does not run on my Windows 10 system.

I guess my bootloader must be different somehow. For now, I'm stuck. Or is there something else I need to do to my uSD after or before burning the image?

havhav Guess I am misunderstanding something.

I have flashed my Minix X7 with the Kitkat-250 image as mentioned in your answer. I booted my Minix and I get the Kitkat with the Minix screen now (Green and grey).

Then I burned the LibreElec image posted by Vindio74. I plugged it into my uSD to SD adapter (NO-USB) and clicked it in the slot of the Minix.

The only thing that happens is that in the left top corner I get the message "SD card prepared". Nothing more happens. Thats it.

After a while I did a reboot using the Android menu and leaving the card in the MMC-slot. But no results.

What else should I do to start LibreElec?

After following the steps at https://thomasheinz.net/install-debian-on-minix-neo-x7/

I got this old version of Debian running including Ethernet. I did not test Wifi until now.

Sometimes I needed to boot without the card and insert the card a couple of seconds after power-up, to get my monitor to show the boot procedure.

If no card is inserted I get a boot sequence with something called BusyBox.

As mentioned, I cannot boot the balbes150 images (also not the old one) in this way, but maybe the information can help to get ethernet running.

Again, can someone provide a copy of the proper Linuxium bootloader files (or other bootloader files), including instructions, so I can test the balbes150 images on my Minix Neo X7?

I have no problem whatsoever in flashing the files. I am using the "upgrade_tool" under Linux, as explained by Radxa to flash everything. Even my formerly "bricked" X7 could be flashed easily this way.

Thanks for your reply.

I downloaded your share: LibreELEC-ARMv7.arm-11.0-devel-20210818064457-34fd57d-rk3188.img.gz and took following steps:

1. Unpacked the gz to get the image file.

2. Completely formatted a 4GB uSD card and filled with "0" (just to make sure)

3. Used Disk Image Writer on Linux to write the image to the SD card.

4. Inserted the uSD into the uSD adapter and inserted into my Neo X7

5. Connected display and power and pushed power on button

Result....unfortunately nothing at all.

I guess that my bootloader is not booting this kind of image properly.

I am using:

the loader file:

RK3188Loader(L)_V2.03.bin

the kernel:

linux_kernel_marvin_neo_x7.img

the recovery kernel:

linux_kernel_marvin_neo_x7_recovery.img

the parameter file:

linuxium-parameter-mk802iv

boot image:

multiboot.img

I read that using Linuxium bootloader should work. Can someone please help me to a copy of a working bootloader for the Minix Neo X7? The link to the Linuxium bootloader does not work/exist anymore. I cannot find a copy anywhere.

I have a Minix Neo X7 and would like to start testing this new LibreELEC. From reading all previous posts, I understand there are some caveats, like having to use a usb dongle for network connection.

Until now, I was able to boot an old Debian Wheezy version on my X7, using the instructions on: https://thomasheinz.net/install-debian-on-minix-neo-x7/

For LibreELEC I need:

"Install linuxium bootloader Linuxium's Bootloader software to dual boot Android and Linux - Linuxium"

But this link is not available anymore and I cannot find any download for this boot loader.

Can somebody help me to a copy?
