nVidia support is currently broken in LE13 nightlies and might take a while to fix as nobody on staff has anything to-hand that can run the offending 570.xx drivers: we have been telling users to avoid nVidia GPU purchases for years and it seems we have heeded our own advice. It probably needs a motivated user to figure out the issue and send a fix. If the card is also supported by the older 550.xx driver you can use older nightlies.

    Hey

    New nvidia driver

    Driver Version: 570.153.02
Release Date: Mon May 19, 2025

Fixed a bug that could cause OpenGL applications and compositors to stall when using NVIDIA as a PRIME Display Offload sink ("Reverse PRIME"), potentially resulting in a black screen.

Might fix it i hope because im also waiting for LE13 generic-legacy nightlys to work again :)

    Regards

    Hey HiassofT

I think a new bug was made when the nvidia fix solved the "blank screen"

I noticed it yesterday and tried a couple of things this morning. (tested 20250227, your build and 20250321)

the bug is not there in nightly 20250227 but is there after the nvidia fix.

Bug description: Whatever refresh rate you set in the gui, the gui its self does not use it, it uses 40hz always. when watching media its uses the refresh rate ive set (59.94) Ive tried other refresh rates but the gui do not follow it.

I noticed it because if i bring up my LG tv menu its very sluggish, i have "game optimizer" on and it shows 40hz.

I dont know if its a simple fix i can fix my self or a dev has to fix it. anyone can reproduce it by booting "live" from a nightly after the nvidia pr fix

    Edit: Pics added

    Best regards

palle_c could you please test with this image:
    https://www.horus.com/~hias/tmp/libr…-3917e30.img.gz

I've fixed a couple more issues and hope it should be fine now.

    so long,

    Hias

    Hey.

Now it gets to the gui, tested "live" first. :)

Installed it and it works but now samba, ssh and ftp do not work, all those connections times out.

Seems to be a bit buggy on samba, ssh and ftp, rebooted again and now they work

Thanks for fixing the nvidia driver problem :) I will continiu with your image until legacy nightlys is back online again after your fix :)

Quick question: now my hdd light keeps blinking all the time, even when idle, can it be some background task? (it stopped now after about 30min) must have been some task heheh

    Regards

palle_c we'll need logs to see what's going on/wrong with your system.

ssh in, then run the following two commands and post the URLs you got:

    Code
    pastekodi
    Code
    pastebinit /var/log/Xorg.0.log

    so long,

    Hias

    Hey.

SSH is not enabled with a clean install or "Live" usb boot?

When you get to the GUI on a clean install there you can enable SSH, i do not get a GUI (i did not upgrade this time because of the new "system" partition has changed to 1gb instead of 512mb, i didnt know if the upgrade did the resize auto on upgrade)

Did it work for you on your rtx4070? A "live" usb boot would confirm that :)

    Regards

    Hello.

I have noticed that nightly after LibreELEC-Generic-legacy.x86_64-13.0-nightly-20250227-23a3c47.img.gz 2025-02-27 12:45 results in blank screen on after the libreelec logo boot on nvidia, no gui shows but i can access samba etc after i did the upgrade (mine anyway, i have a rtx3070 nvidia). i did test with clean installs as well and same results, blank screen and no signal on monitor.

Im speculating here but i could be the nvidia driver update that happened after 2025-02-27 builds

Ive tested builds created on 8/3, 6/3 and 4/3 and they do not work.

This is just a heads up for the dev guys :)

Right now im sticking with the 27/2 build.

    Kind regards

You're the first person to notice since LE11 shipped and nVidia active-install numbers continue to decline over time (we've been telling people to avoid nVidia cards for years now) so the chance that someone else spots the problem is fairly low.

Yea i know and you have told me before hehe

I'm never dropping nvidia, once libreelec does that will be my last version. I have tested intel graphics and picture quality isn't the same (for me anyhow) Now that i got lanczos3 optimized back the quality is even crispier like that is was on 10.04.

I did some other tweaks too, found out that nvidia only runs in performance mode 8=P8 when running hd videos so i added a line in xorg-nvidia.conf and now its using P0 and wattage only increased 4-5w and its utilization is at 35-38% so im happy with smp's build :)

I didn't PR a Nexus backport, Kodi 21 should be out soon. I'm not even sure if there's going to be Kodi 20.3. You can keep using my LE11 image until LE12 is out.

Oki, i was just afraid that if i updated to latest nightly i would loose the vdpau patch :) (haven't tried it yet and i dont know if it would work but i think i could just have copied the RendererVDPAU.cpp over to a new install)

Its amazing that no one with nvidia have noticed it before with the missing scalers options, its been gone since le11 beta i guess.

Once again Thanks a lot for helping me out, i will make this thread "Solved" :)

Team Kodi didn't decide on a 20.3 release yet, but it would be good to send the PR in case it happens (the idea has been made). It's always better to merge patches upstream instead of adding them downstream at the LE repo.

Yea, Im just thinking of the next poor person who installs LE11 and says what i said "wth, whys isn't "enablehighqualityhwscalers" working :)

    Thanks chewitt!

ooops, forgot to mark it "Solved"
