Great news
Do you think the 11.X branch could also benefit from this or do you prefer to reserve it for 12.X ?
Thanks for the hard work

Hi, 2 years later, are we still in the same situation?
Thanks
HDMI Black level - Raspberry 4 - Librelelc 10.0.2 - Limited out of the box ?
TLDR - There is a bug in the current 10.0.2 version that has been fixed in the nightly version.
Give it a try and see how it goes
mathmath51 can you test with hdmi_enable_4kp60=1 in config.txt (you also need to enable HDMI Ultra HD Deep Color support in your TV's setting - this is usually HDMI-port specific) on LE 10.0.2?
LE10.0.2 supports outputting at 10 and 12bit, LE10.0.1 only sent 8bit HDMI.
So on LE10.0.1 your 4kp23.97 file is transmitted as RGB 4:4:4 8bit, 10.0.2 without 4kp60 enabled transmits at YCbCr 4:2:2 12bit, with 4kp60 enabled it transmits RGB 4:4:4 12bit - all that could make a difference.
so long,
Hias
Thanks for your quick reply.
I the mean time, I've installed the latest nightly (fresh, without the configuration you mentioned) and the issue seems to have been fixed !
Here the logs :
I'm so glad I'm not crazy
I've tested an other 4K file between 10.0.1 and 10.0.2 and the difference is there : TV set to limited with 10.0.1 = TV set to full with 10.0.2
Here are the log (fresh install so should not be against the forum policy) :
10.0.2
10.0.1
I hope these logs will help finding what changed between these 2 versions of Libreelec
So, I've "factory" reset my Libreelec as requested.
I've re-encoded part of one of my many "faulty" files and the result is OK with limited while it wasn't for the original.
Played the original, still not ok with limited.
It leads to this alternative : either most if not all my 4k files have been badly encoded or that there is something wrong with the codec used.
As the volume of files that doesn't play nicely is consequent and comes from different places, I don't know what to think.
I can't find a dark video sample that is 4K and not HDR so I'm a bit stuck for providing you with some new logs.
On Windows, do you know a tool that could bring the full video details from some files from my library so I can try to figure out if it's a codec issue or otherwise please ?
Thanks
After many tests comparing files with 4k resolution and same file but in 1080p (keeping in mind I've set the adjust refresh setting to always), it looks like playing 1080p files are indeed using limited hdmi blacks while 4k sdr (maybe hdr also) uses full hdmi blacks.
Every 4k files I played with the PI were so damn black when I compare to 4k files played through the TV native Netflix or Prime app that I though something was off.
So in the end, in term of "black level/darkness", to me 1080p -> Limited HDMI black, 4k sdr -> full HDMI black.
I have to force it on my LG C1 : if I put the setting to auto it will stay limited.
I don't know how I can provide factual evidence / log to pass upon to the dev team or if it's a know "issue".
Any ideas how to get attention from the technical team ?
Thanks
Hi,
Could any body confirm that, out of the box, Librelec 10.0.2 on a Raspberry 4 will use the limited HDMI Black level please ?
There is a setting in the system menu but it seems to do more arm than good.
Should I mess with the config file and the hdmi_pixel_encoding settings (I've read it is not taken into consideration with the PI 4 and this version of Libreelec) ?
My TV is a LG C1 and I'd like to set it up correctly (not a fan of "auto" in the tv settings).
Thanks
Great news, can't wait, thanks 😊
Hi, is there any news regarding the development of the Pi2/3 version please? (I'm not asking for a date, just news)
Hi every one,
I can't control Kodi (Libreelec nightly v18 0525, didn't work either on the v17) with my TV remote when the PI3 is plugged like this : PI3 --> Denon AVR X2400 (newly bought) --> LG C7V.
On the other hand, it worked if it's plugged like this : PI3 --> LG C7V
The CEC is active on both the TV and the amp.
I tried to change the HDMI port in libCEC conf to 2 because it's plugged in the port number 2 of the amp with no result.
cec-client -l gives me this :
device: 1
com port: RPI
vendor id: 2708
product id: 1001
firmware version: 1
type: Raspberry Pi
I don't know if I missed something in the configuration or if it's libcec that doesn't support Denon amp at all.
I've posted this here here also, maybe someone here could have an idea
Thx
So do your homework before you lay blame on something that isn't even involved.
Wow, forum vigilante strikes again.
Ok buddy, keep it cool and civil.
I was just merely asking a question, hopping to have answers from people who might have encountered the problem, not a rtfm kind of answer.
Again, wasn't complaining, just asking.
Peace
That's a Windows issue, so you better consult Windows boards.
Wow, thanks for your astonishing answer, amazingly helpful !
As it is caused by sharing files with Libreelec and how libreelec handle it (maybe) :
Hi,
When my Raspebrry pi is running, my Windows 10 never goes to screensaver, even though I'm not using it.
My installation :
As long as my Raspberry is running (powered), my Windows 10 never start his screensaver.
If I turn off the raspberry, it does.
I think it is a Samba/file sharing issue but I can't figure how to solve it.
Do you have any idea ?
Thx
