Yer of course, the onboard wifi and bluetooth is rubbish so Ive disabled them, by blacklisting the drivers.
I've checked to see if this was causing the problems with the tp-link, and its not, If I allow to onboards to load the drivers, the tp-link still doesnt work..
I've also tried with a Pi2, but still cant get it to work, also check the tp-link on a windows pc to make sure it works with no problems, and its fine.
Kind regards
Bucky...
edit:
I've also run some other tests, but with no luck
1. clean install pi3, only onboard worked.
2. clean install pi3, blacklist onboard drivers.
3. clean install pi2
4. clean install pi2 and pi3, with a different distribution.
With each of these tests the only device plugged in was the tp-link.
I've also just return the WiFi adapter to the shop and got another new one, just in case the problem was with the adapter, but I'm still getting the same issue...

Hi,
Is it possible to add support for the TP-Link wifi adapter WN822N V4, as it doesnt seem to be working with the current test build.
I have added a link to where you can download the linux driver, it may help.
Download for TL-WN822N - TP-Link
Apparently it uses atheros ar9170 chipset..
Let me know if any further info is required, I would love to see this added as its a great adapter
Kind Regards
Bucky..
