I use the optical TOSLINK port on my TV to that, then it does a boss job of transmitting that to bluetooth earphones.

That's a good option if your TV can give Toslink output. Unfortunately my TV doesn't have that...
The HDMI audio extractor I bought was from EBay (was shipped from Hongkong) and I was doubtful about how it would be - but it works pretty well without any such issue you described. I've seen some people using it without the power adapter it comes with and it still works!

It's a WD 2GB external HDD I have been using with RPi 3 for many years without any problem.

Also it's working with the USB2 ports of RPi4 but not with the USB3 ports...

The output from Raspberry Pi audio port is not really great, you can get much better result using a HDMI to Audio extractor like the link below if you want high quality output. You can buy any brand, it's all the same inside...even Amazonbasics has one I think.

Hi,

I am new to LibreELEC and facing a issue.
I noticed that HDD not detected after installation when connected to USB3 port, I thought it could be due to the 5V 2A adapter I was using.
So I got the recommended 5.1V / 3.0A power adapter but it's still not working.
What I noticed is USB2 ports work fine but not the USB3.

Is this a known issue or I am doing something wrong?
Would really appreciate any help
