Can confirm, works like a charm.
Thank you very much for the quick help.
I'll continue using the updated firmware files and get back if I'll notice ill effects. -
Can you please post logs, both from 9.95.5 and 9.97.1?
Sure.
9.95.5 http://ix.io/3uj4
9.97.1 (boot from SD slot, dead USB) http://ix.io/3uj5
9.97.1 (boot from USB SD adapter) http://ix.io/3uj6
I made a fresh install of 9.95.5 on a brand new SD card and then upgraded to 9.97.1.
Only USB device connected was an USB IR adapter for the remote control, except for the third set of logs which also had the USB SD card adapter connected

Hi,
I upgraded my RPi4 (2GB model) from 9.95.5 to 9.97.1 and noticed that after upgrading all USB ports were disabled.
Couldn't find much on the dmesg output of interest apart from this:
Quote[ 2.736878] raspberrypi-firmware soc:firmware: Request 0x00030058 returned st atus 0x80000001

After downgrading back to 9.95.5 USB is working again.
In a thread on the raspberry.org forum I found this post:
USB not working, VL805 CURRENT: 00000000 - Raspberry Pi Forums
So I again installed 9.97.1. After the update was finished the USB ports were, as expected, dead again.
I put the SD Card into a USB adapter and connected it to one of the USB2 ports and behold the raspi was booting from it and all USB ended up working.
So I have a RPI4 that would disable all USB ports during boot when the SD card is in its designated slot but if i boot it from a USB card reader everything's fine
I'm a bit of a loss with this and would appreciate any help.

Updated my Rpi2 yesterday.
Problems seen so far:
- similar do these ( Raspberry Pi 3B+ h264 1080i hardware deinterlacing broken?, rpi4 audio/video issues when attempting to stream live TV ) deinterlacing with MMAL Advanced forces audio/video out of sync after a few seconds. Workaround is switching to MMAL Bob or disabling deinterlacing.
- this ( Overclocking partially broken with DVFS firmware · Issue #1290 · raspberrypi/firmware · GitHub ) breaks gpu / h264 overclocking and with it playing 1080p 60fps videos on Rpi2. Stock 250Mhz are not sufficient for this, but 300MHz did the trick for me until now.
