kszaq: Latest dev build worked. But not when written via SD Creator from LibreELEC, what I've tried first.
Had to DD onto my SDcard. Don't ask me where's the difference But it works nowThank you. So your changed booting procedure is helpful

Here's a new development build. I'm posting it here since it has mostly S905X-only fixes: changed booting procedure, fixed 4K H.264 playback (not tested, please report!) and one change to device tree that should fix audio - I missed one from @afl1's post.Hi,
On my Mini M8s II it's not working. Build a fresh SDcard,
plugged in and used toothpick method. Got tty error (could not mount mmcblk0p1) -
-
Yes, this fix is included in all development builds. I think there is an issue with delayed detection of SD card. Or no detection at all.Same guess. It seems that it's not clear which one is detected first. eMMC or SD.
And this changes from boot to boot. But how to fix detection order or detection itself that's something related to u-boot, isn't it?
-
I found the reason for sdcard booting issue. The sdcard detection is not synchronized with emmc detection. Sometimes sdcard is detected as a /dev/mmcblk0Code[ 2.548169@0] sd: new high speed SDHC card at address aaaa [ 2.553486@0] sd: clock 50000000, 4-bit-bus-width [ 2.558611@0] ge2d: ge2d clock is 400 MHZ [ 2.562408@0] ge2d: ge2d: pdev=ffffffc023c61c00, irq=182, rstc=0xffffffc023049bc0, clk=ffffffc01037ac00 [ 2.571990@0] ge2d: mapped phy: 0xd0160000 [ 2.575749@0] ge2d: ge2d start monitor [ 2.577179@3] mmcblk0: sd:aaaa SL16G 14.8 GiB
or as a /dev/mmcblk1Code[ 2.753211@1] sd: new high speed SDHC card at address aaaa [ 2.753819@1] sd: clock 50000000, 4-bit-bus-width [ 2.753819@1] [ 2.753820@1] mmcblk1: sd:aaaa SL16G 14.8 GiB [ 2.756001@1] mmcblk1: p1 p2 [
In mmcblk.zip are both logs. First one is for successful sdcard booting for T95X tv box.
kszaq: Try to this fix issue to mount /flash and /storage for correct /dev/mmcblkX.
kszaq wasn't there a attempt to fix this issue by trying to mount by LABEL already?
(As I remember, this approach didn't work either). -
lama0900 Have you tried running a "fresh" SD card image?Keep in mind that I still haven't received my S905X, this image is untested.
Yep tried exactly that and got the error from above
No complain. Just a notice.
Can take some time to get a cheap S905X box it took me more than 2 weeks. -
Mini M8SII is S905X device. Install guide:
S905X: You don't need to provide a device tree.
So far, I cannot even boot dev build from 25/09 on my Mini M8S II - S905X from SDcard. Ends with: "could not mount /dev/mmcblk0p1"
-
Latest dev build should have sound issues fixed (please use 7.0.2.007 device trees): 2016-09-25-develAudio setting to 44.1kHz still preferred when testing?
Thank you

MPeartnoy I understand that in the latest dev build in 5.1 channel rear surround channels need to be remapped to surround channels or are they OK? I don't have any surround setup and I need to understand it correctly to fix.For HD Audio I need to apply a fix suggested by afl1 in his post (thank you, afl1!).
Is this fixing the audio stuttering completely?
Because when changing to 44.1 kHz there is still little stuttering sometimes.Maybe you can share a dev build with changes from afl1

forget this post, please

lama0900 This is a known issue in devel build. Current workaround: set audio to fixed 44.1kHz in Kodi settings and don't use passthrough. I'm working to fix it.Thank you. I've read something like that anywhere in the forum, but didn't find it anymore

hey there,
anyone got cracking audio with mini m8s Ii?
How to solve or is it a known issue atm?Thank you!
-
I double checked and it shows DTS-HD MA.Forgot to turn off cinemadsp @hdmi2 port at my receiver.
Never used HDMI2 port, until I recently plugged in the little M8s II to it.Indeed it does passthrough DTS-HD-MA and DTS-TrueHD and... and...

kszaq, are your actual changes in your github? i would say no, because your activity doesn't show them, am I right?
wanted to make use of them and bump kodi to 17 beta1. but if it's not actual at github, then it would be useless checking out -
Still not working with mine (Nexbox A95X). But with different error screen, please see Imgur: The most awesome images on the InternetI did not use toothpick again? Is that important? I used toothpick method only once with pulsars image, then dd'd kszaq's image to my sdcard, put it in again and waited to boot again which my box did well.

3rd test build: s905x-test3Works for me
Even power off works with this one -
DTS-HD Master Audio Passthrough: YesMy receiver shows only DTS not DTS-HD-MA .. ? So this is because it's no dolby licensed S905X?
So this cannot work simply? Or do I have to set something else? Everything is marked in audio settings (DTS-HD capable receiver and so on).
