extract to
SNP goes into the Picons/Tvh folder and the SRP goes into Picons/VDR folder

HDHomeRun would also be possible and it doesn't require any driver. Ofc not super cheap.
I would advice that you try LE9 and don't use an alpha of tvheadend at all. The stable tvheadend is at our addons, same goes for the dvb drivers you might need.
At the network share you have an folder called picons, there you put your icons and they work without setup anything (if not you use wrong naming, or try vdr folder)
Hmm just to clarify, installing 8.2 works, updating from 8.2->9.0 shows the same problem?

Its likely a Kodi issue, best guess at the moment is to wait for LE9 Beta2, if the kodi bump doesn't fix it open an issue there.
Strange, we tested it and it worked.
Could you fresh install 9.0 ? A workaround is to backup via LE Settings Addon, copy backup off the box. Install LE9.0, copy backup to the box and restore it.
The update should work, could you describe what kind of error you see?

that is a driver problem - maybe even an HW problem
there are other stuff missing too, this is designed to run at debian/ubuntu

found no proper way doing it 
but you can do it manually
login via ssh and type
tail -n50 -f /storage/.kodi/userdata/addon_data/service.tvheadend42/service.log
that grep the log as soon it happens, if the box crashs you can still see the output of the log

Same for me on Wetek Play 2 (and LePotato) with any DTS passthrough playback, it's been a bug since the early Alpha's unfortunately.
Thats sadly not easily fixable without heavy Kodi patching and starting fixing the known very broken kernel codebase for AMLogic 3.14.
We have decided to not do that for K18 because the new kernel codebase is already at the corner and properly fixing the old one takes too much efforts that are basically wasted after K18 (the old way AML Kernel 3.14 is doing things is getting completely removed for K19).
