Which firmware exactly? HDMI support is part of the graphics driver firmware. That's the important one.

The "inhibit lock taken" is normal, I have the same message in my own RPi3B+ log.

The dev had a look at the logs, and was talking to me. He would like to see a crash log right after a crash.

So when LE crashes, bring it back to a functional state, login by SSH, run pastecrash, and post the resulting URL.

So it's a Linux kernel issue (driver/firmware). Buying a Bluetooth dongle seems to be the easiest/quickest solution. Do some research first, and make sure the dongle is Linux compatible.

I'm using dtoverlay=gpio-shutdown on my own RPi3B+, and I've never seen the rainbow square during a crash.

Maybe the "Piped" add-on handles crashes in a special way.

Most add-on developers are at Kodi forums, so I suggest to create a bug report over there.

Maybe a bug, which was fixed since LE 12. So try LE 12 on another microSD, and report back.

I'm using the latest stable version on my RPi3B+. Works fine for my needs.

By default LibreELEC does not have a swapfile.

You can enable a swapfile by:

cp /etc/swap.conf /storage/.config

then edit it and change

SWAP_ENABLED="no" to SWAP_ENABLED="yes".

SWAPFILESIZE="128" to your required swapfile size - normally 4 x RAM but RAM should be enough for a normal LE system.

When you reboot, a swapfile the size of SWAPFILESIZE is generated in /storage/.config/swapfile.

I agree. MP3 at higher sampling rates is great! Lossless FLAC/WAV is for music production, where inaudible frequencies become audible by using audio tools. If you're no musician, stay away from lossless audio. You will lose storage in TB range.
