just got my pi running how do i get to command line. i want to be able to use sudo to shut down pi without pulling the power plug. any suggestions appreciated thanks

hello, i am going to install os on my pi. i will put it on sd card with my windows machine and then install it on the pi. do i need to format the card in a certain was for it to be used in the pi? thanks
