With CoreElec, did you try gxl_p281_2g.dtb? With this image my S905W boxes work and have WiFi
Yes, the box works, but the WiFi still has the same problem.

The relation - S905W is not full supported in this old LE version
As there is no actual amlogic development, You can try CoreELEC and hope WiFi is supportedOr use cabled network -> best choice
I tried CoreELEC and AlexELEC - the same problem exists.
That´s bad
Maybe Your box has the S905W SoC -> it´s a piece of crap
Yes, it has the S905W. Though I don't see the relation to the dead WiFi.
gxl_p212_2g should be the device tree
Remember:
LibreELEC 8.2.3.1 is discontinued
Tried this device tree, the box didn't even boot (black screen).
I bought a Mecool M8S PRO W 2GB/16GB a while ago and decided to try LibreELEC 8.2.3.1 yesterday. I couldn't boot with any device tree in the S905X folder, except gxl_p212_2g_slowemmc.dtb. After boot, I noticed that the WiFi was working partially - networks were showing in the Connections tab, but some of them were duplicated and the SSID's differed by one letter (for example DEFAULT_SSID and DHFAULT_SSID). Trying to connect to both of them failed with Network error: Input/Output error.
Is WiFi working for someone with the SSV6051 chip? Does anybody have the slightest idea why this is happening?
