RK3588 8K Arm Cortex-A76/A55 SoC, Rockchip Roadmap to 2020
Do any of the libreelec developers know whether this chip will be one of their open source chips?
This chip will be competing against the Amlogic S905X3 which is 4 x cortex a55 + mali g31 + gigabit (requires gigabit chip).

I have the mecool m8s pro plus (S905X), if i want to be able to use netflix and amazon prime hacked addons should i use the 32bit or 64bit image? Will those addons work with both the 3.14 and 4.x kernels? Is the 3.14 or 4.x kernel image considered the best? There are .tar and img.gz. Am i supposed to download both? I will be using the libreelec usb sd card creator btw.

RK has a native 10-bit pipeline, same as S912.
S905X can't output 10bit video to tvs?

kodi 18 rc4 is out now.

i don't suppose you know which HDR standards the chip supports do you, different listings say hdr10, others say hdr10+, another one said hlg. I'm hoping that it supports all 3 and maybe dolbyvision. I know that the S922X is described as supporting all HDR standards so i'm guessing that this chip doesn't.

The Amlogic S905X2 boards have started to be delivered to customers over the past 2 days. Does anyone know if developers are planning to add support to Libreelec v9.0 or even v8.2.4.1? The big differences for this chip is that it has an Arm Mali G31MP2 gpu, uses 12nm instead of 28nm so no thermal throttling, ~1.8-2.0ghz, ddr4, supports gigabit, supports more HDR standards and supports USB3.
Here is an example of one of the boxes: pp_009351107182.html?wid=1433363#goodsdetail

Hi guys, there is news of an open source vpu decoder (not finished though) created by a bootlin developer: Amlogic Open Source Video Decoder Driver Coming Soon for S905, S905X and S912 Processors
Will this result in less cpu consumption in libreelec once integrated?

Thought i'd let you know that there is now an official android 8.1 rom out for an RK3328 android tv box: ** URL REMOVED **
Link near the bottom. Not sure how beneficial this is for Libreelec?

The kickstarter has finished now, h265 playback support stretch goal was met
-
I have updated the amounts needed as the kickstarter has been updated to clarify the amounts. It is unlikely h265 decode support will be adding at this rate of donations.
-
It is already backed beyond the highest stretch goal
not true.
Original goal - €17,600
stretch goal (add support for newer SoCs) - €22,000
stretch goal (h265 decode) - €30,800
stretch goal (h264 encode) - €44,000
It is currently at €25,957, another €4,843 needed for h265 decode and €18,043 needed for h264 encode.
They said in the comment that I submitted on kickstarter that other work for the Allwinner H6 is needed because it is quite different in architecture which is really annoying as that is an excellent SoC.

Bootlin Wants to Bring Allwinner VPU Support to Mainline Linux (Crowdfunding)
How helpful will this be to getting LibreELEC on allwinner android boxes?
