After updating to the last devel version box will not boot.
Now I boot from USB and I want to go back to 8.90.5
Is it possible to mount the update folder from the internal memory.

for now, getting a HDR capable AVR seems to be the only way to enjoy both TrueHD and 10bit HDR at the same time.
I have a s905x box, splitter, Onkyo TX-SR606 AVR and TV.
Made a modification of the hdmi cable from the splitter to the AVR.
On TV I watch HDR content and AVR is playing TrueHD and DTS-MA.
First cable from the switch is connected to the TV and second is connected to the AVR.
I use AVR only for audio and AVR is not connected to the TV.
Display MoreIf I mask out pin 15 and pin 17 between the splitter and the AVR then the AVR has no sound and the video signal from the AVR has strange purple color tone (everything is purple where the original color is black).
Without the splitter (which is 18Gbps capable HDMI 2.0b compatible) in the box-AVR-TV setup there is no HDR signal on the tv (4k is fine) but get HD audio on the AVR.
In the box-TV-AVR setup there is HDR signal on the tv but cannot get audio not even the core DTS on HDMI ARC or optical cable to the AVR.
I cannot get HDR and HD audio together.

Could you share a link where did you buy your splitter?
From the splitter, one hdmi cable is connected to the TV and the other to the AVR.
In my case, all is working with masking pin 15 and 17.
I tried an hdmi cable with cut wire of pin 15 and it also works.
The only problem of this solution is the long hdmi handshake (about 10 seconds) when starting the movie.

Display MoreIs there a way to force HDR output on s912 devices?
I am asking because my projector isn't HDR capable, but has a wider color gamut (REC2020). In my chain (Minix > Oppo UDP-203 > AV Receiver > Epson LS10000 Projector) sits an Oppo UDP-203 player, which has a HDMI Input and would accept HDR signals and tone map it to BT2020/SDR.
But /sys/class/amhdmitx/amhdmitx0/edid does not show and Deep Color / HDR strings from the Oppo UDP-203. That's, why I guess, the s912 always puts out REC709/SDR.
My s912 minix all the way gives out REC709/SDR even when I play BT2020/HDR files.
So the s912 is converting REC2020/HDR to REC709/SDR, but I would like to output unmodifed HDR and the oppo to do his tone mapping magic.
cat /sys/class/amhdmitx/amhdmitx0/hdr_cap =
Supported EOTF:
Traditional SDR: 0
Traditional HDR: 0
SMPTE ST 2084: 0
Future EOTF: 0
Is there a way for a custom hdr_cap file, like custom EDID (which is already possible), which overrides what's in /sys/class/amhdmitx/amhdmitx0/hdr_cap? Would be a very nice feature for displays which offers BT2020 color gamut but no native HDR support.
Your problem is similar to mine.
New TV, old AVR and HDMI splitter
You can try to do this with a hdmi cable from AVR to the projector.
I suppose there are more users who by buying a new TV keep their old AVR. If they use HDMI splitter in combination with a new TV and older AVR certainly have a problem with HDR. Copying the disp_cap file to /storage/.code/userdata/ solves the problem with TV resolution, but not the HDR. I think that copying hdr_cap in /storage/.kodi/userdata/ and processing it we can solve the problem of HDR. Currently, I solved this problem by blocking the pin 15 on the cable from the splitter to the AVR.
That "snow" looks like a bad HDMI cable. If for whatever reason the new build uses a higher bandwidth video setting (like RGB or higher chroma) than the previous.
You're right.
I have three identical cables and one of them is having problems.
My box is A5 1GB/16GB and dtb is gxl_p212_1g.dtb, tv is Sony 55XE7005
After LibreELEC-S905.arm-9.0-devel-20180218093359-r28165-gec88b52.tar update my tv looks like attached photo so i reverted to 8.90.4
ps
after upgrade to 8.90.x file manager lost "copy" and "move" in menu
Yes it does.
To "power on" the box you must "learn IR command" from original remote.
Power off works out of the box.
You need to configure the MCE to have a separate command for power on and power off.
You can do other tweaks through remote.xml
I bought mine on aliexpress
I have Harmony 515 set as pivos xios and here is my remote.conf and remote.xml for LibreELEC 8.x.
For LibreELEC 8.90.4 i use Harmony as Microsoft Media Center remote.
I have these hdmi splitter. Even hdr goes through it and of course DTS-HD or TrueHD audio to AVR.

I have S905x box connected to an HDMI splitter. On the other side I have connected TV and AVR. When TV is on and AVR is off I can watch HDR content. When I switch AVR on then HDR is not even coming out from the box. I already done "cat /sys/class/amhdmitx/amhdmitx0/disp_cap > /storage/.kodi/userdata/disp_cap" as kszaq recommended and solved problems with UHD resolutions.
Enclosed files "edid", "hdr_cap" and "dc_cap" before and after turning AVR on.
Any idea of how to resolve this issue?
I resolved problem putting a strip of tape over HDMI pins 15 and 17.
On the picture you can see example of tape strip over pin 19.
I would prefer software solution.
Maybe something like disp_cap in /storage/.kodi/userdata but for edid and hdr_cap.

kszaq i did what you suggested and i did a short test and so far everything is working.
Thank you very much.
