thanks that worked. What is the purpose of having the lirc daemon running? Having it off doesnt seem to make a difference.

I just upgraded my intel nuc to 8.2.1 and after doing so, i am noticing 100% cpu load on 1 cpu. That load appears to be coming from lircd. If i kill that process, the remote still works and the cpu goes back to normal. problem is, ever startup I have this problem. Anyone have any thoughts as to why?
